Gents- what's the actual color of these units? The pics all made it look like a cool, distressed blue. That was nice.
The pics I'm seeing look like a glossy gray.

Fuuuuck. Time to sell I guess. I was talking about the Phoenix Audio DRS-Q4 preamp though.

Literally dropped on my birthday too. So much for my $7k compressor. Super.

Have Stam to send me one to test. I'll do a direct comparison with the Heritage DMA 73. Everything will be exactly the same except the amps.

I plan to compare the 1073 MPA to the UAD Unison 1073, just to put to rest the "plug-in sounds just like the hardware" thing once and for all.

These dudes are way too difficult to follow. This isn't for sale in the store. 18 pages of thread. Even the new Gold seems confusing with this routing panel or whatever. I guess I just need to download and try, but the site feels like a disaster.

Click on Gold, scroll to the bottom of the next page and you will see the purchase link.

I compared the GR MP-2NV and the Heritage DMA-73 when deciding which one to keep. They were incredibly close, sonically. I'm interested in the Stam too but have some misgivings about getting on that train.

Oh...I believe you have to buy Nebula 4. But a lot of that development is being put on hold while the Acqua stuff is coming out I think.

Save your time I have compared it to my 1073 Vintage Design DMP ... The plug in misses the dynamic part of the mic pre.... The hardware sounds wide open smooth, goes with the dynamics. The plug in is not bad but is static compared to the real gear. By far I heard better plug ins than the UAD 1073 - we have the best plug ins in the world - bla bla. I get more and more the impression its the small developers who do great sounding plug ins.

I'm interested in the Stam too but have some misgivings about getting on that train. Which one did you end up keeping ? Hey Ariel. I kept the Great River. It was a tad bit smoother in the hi mids, which could be good or bad depending on context. For me, I'm always fighting my voice's harsh hi mids so that smoothness was welcome. I had also just always had some Great River lust. Don't know why, just really wanted it before I'd even heard it. But yeah, extremely close to the Heritage in the couple tests I did. Both top shelf units.
