Should be getting mine today! May it excite and delight your transformer, as illustrated in your previous post.

Should be getting mine today! do you still have your heritage? No. I bought the 1073/500 for $1400 and flipped it for $1800. Then sold the 73jr for what I bought it for when I ordered this.

Fired her up for some harms. So, didn't get the whole picture...but it seems to sound really, really good. Loooots of headroom. Smooth top. Seems to be more forward in the 500 region...which is really nice to give stuff girth. BUT, I just put down that hardwood and opened up my room (took down some baffling) so I need to make some comparisons to other pres to determine if that's totally true. To me, it more resembles the BAE. The Heritage and Neves seem brighter.

When I did my mic shootout last summer, I dd it through the SSL 9000. Afterwards, I did the same series of mics through vintage Neve pres, and they were quite dark. I preferred the sound of the SSL. From your description, it's possible the Stam is actually closer to the original.

The Sowter output transformer option is a bit darker and more vintage sounding, closer to the Marinari LO1166. Both sound great to me, however, I rather the vintage sounding one, personal taste.

I know it would be additional expense but maybe consider mounting both trannies in the same unit with a switch so one could have either sound ?

I know it would be additional expense but maybe consider mounting both trannies in the same unit with a switch so one could have either sound ? I would struggle to fit 4 output transformers in this unit, I would have to modify the layouts, chassis size, etc... I am considering offering one of each, it would be something like this Carnhill version 890.00 Carnhill and Sowter 950.00 Sowter version 990.00

What's a realistic ship date if purchased now?

I know Ed has Transformers for the 1176 and API circuits, never heard of Ed adding to the Neve fray, he seams to try and cover areas where there are no or few quality historically accurate choices and there are plenty in the Neve reproduction flavor already!

Yeah, he does do a LO1166. Its the EA-1166-500 "mini1166" for use with 500 series modules. I have never tried that particular tx but Ed makes quality products.

They use the ed andersons and I like them better then every other neve I've had beside them. I haven't heard the sowters though.

Recording my daughter and her ukulele through the Stam. My thought is man, the top end is really, really natural. Like less sibilance than I'm used to. I'll try and report back and maybe record something of me singing here in a sec. Might even treat you to some ten year old Uke.
