I pre-ordered two of them. They're due in January, now, and I'm pretty hopeful that they'll be fantastic.
So much that I pre-ordered an SA-87 to match!

Have you seen the don classics nv73 eq has output where the AML doesn't , and can be purchased assembled or as a kit... you have to email for assembled price which turned me off, however they also make some other cool stuff. I wish he made a 19" rack of the nv73eq www.thedonclassics.com/nv73eq-diy.html

I ordered one of these before I ordered my SA4000 I'm sure they will be complete just about the time I run out of money. Sometimes releases getting delayed helps me creatively fund them.

Do you use it every mix? Do you use the external sidechain at all for mixbus use? I haven't used my sa4000 as much as I thought I would have, however I got it right before the big holiday rush so I am looking forward to putting it to task more now that the holiday rush is over 🤠

The Stam wait is a bit of a worry but so far all ultimately seems cool. The price on the 1073s is too good so I understand the desire - I have a no e.q. BAE which is great - my go to on anything remotely edgy. How are you liking your SA2-A?
Cheers, Ross

Both of these are a little more aggressive so I have been hitting the SA4000 a little harder than I hit my Vintech CA609. I like it but I am still learning it.

Isn't it funny how EQ has taken such a backseat to compression? I was schooled in the analog ways of "carve up the sound and cream the tape" to varying degrees.... and now we have 25 preamps, 50 compressors and maybe 3 or 4 EQs. (ok numbers vary, but you follow me?) So, I love my Neve 1073s and love my Vintech X73s and I also love the fact that they have EQs! So, I would love to see an offering from Josh vd stam with a 1073 Pre AND EQ. And by the way, my SA2a is my most indispensible LA2a compressor now for vocals. I can well remember going trough three or four LA2a comps back in the day and saying "Nope, this one crackles. Nope, this one has a weird hum or buzz in it. Hmmm, this one sounds ok but it isn't really making it any smoother. Oh great, the last one works!" That is no longer a problem. And Stam's (and others') clones don't need to spend half their tim on the tech's bench to stay running!

I love the idea of a 1073 and eq.

I would think it's a massive undertaking...but the market would flip over a cheaper alternative to the BAE and Heritage offerings

If he did one - Id prefer a 1073 pre with the more useful (personally) 1081 EQ.

With the weak British pound the 500 series AML1073 is a steal at under 900 bucks.

Or buy one of their power transformers (or something similar) for 28 pounds and a couple of XLR's. If you're handy the rackmount kit with power transformer is half the price.

They've nailed the cosmetics on these things. Also really glad they included a DI.
