"Final assembly by hand in Chile". Are these Chinese-made? 2 step process, PCBs and Chassis are made in China, board stuffed with resistors. Capacitors and Transformers are mounted and wired by me, all tests and healt check are done here as well. It is exactly the same result in both sound and quality if I soldered the resistors myself or had the chassis made somewhere else. What matters are the Carnhill and Sowter transformers, Vishay and Polystyrene capacitors, proper quality control.

If he did one - Id prefer a 1073 pre with the more useful (personally) 1081 EQ. A 1084 would be ideal. Both are pretty awesome. There are 4 different EQ options that might be nice. 1064, 1073, 1081, 1084

I'm in for one. Joshua says the Sowter actually sounds better. Thought that was interesting.

I use the 12khz and 16khz bands far more on our Heritage 8173's and 6673's than I do the 10khz band unless I'm boosting the highs on something like a dark ribbon which typically roll off much sooner than condensers. It appears market perception trumps practicality.

I keep pulling up 1073 plugins lately and lamenting the lack of certain frequencies being available. I guess one of the cool things about UAD plugins is they do include some of the more modern, less trendy Neves. I haven't bought those, but I would hope that anyone coming out with new hardware would consider expanding the functionality of these EQs rather than slavish imitation of the strictly hyped model numbers. Serpent Audio is a good example of a company that improves instead of just emulating.

I wish one of these Warms or Stams would do a full 19" 1073 with EQ at a more affordable price.

Wish I'd bought 8-12 of em. I had zero problems with them, and they sound like a Neve and are pretty quiet. Like an idiot, I gave 2 of em to a buddy who occasionally records drums for me at his studio and only have 3 now..... 2 84's and one 73.

The only problem I have ever heard with Vintech were political, or snob because Dallas brought the price down a bit! BAE is the gold standard because of the years they spent racking the real deal, but that was over 10 years ago. If I had the coin I'd go Chandler LTD, but I don't ! Having 8 Ch of Dan Alexanders reproduction pres with Real Vintage Neve Transformers, I will say to an extent non of the reproductions with modern Iron nail The hugeness I get, but I don't have the EQ section either and have to deal with 4 big cord lumps cause Dan Chose to use an AC supply unlike everybody who uses D.C.!

Well then there was no excuse as to why I should have cosmetic inconsistencies, especially if the knobs are installed in Chile or China anyway I'm over all of this and don't want to derail further from the thread
