And UA hasn't made a new analog product since when? And why?
No wonder they've gone all in with the UAD digital platform.
Kinda sad though. I'm still waiting on a proper LA3A reissue. Or maybe I'm just waiting on somebody to do it better....
Maybe they already have. Certainly for cheaper. I like the GAP 3A clones. I have two....

Brandon builds beautiful stuff. Edit: but yeah, I totally dig the GAP Comp-3A's too

I like the compression characteristics on them a lot. The GAP 3a clones are really pretty good.

Much more money in Digital and all the cash from the plugins other than some licensing goes to UA! Plus far less inventory! UA has it so easy dealers sell you the box and UA keeps you buying plugins! You don't need shelf save or shipping to the plugins either, just some rented server space! R&D ? Man it's expensive building those prototypes to bad we can't just do it all in the box like the plugins! It's like digital crack and your locked into a certain dealer, even though he's got you he's nice and takes care of you with a coupon now and then, now you don't know if it's really a deal because it's special crack that only works with the very special crack pipe his bud sold you. You could buy other crack but you have to use a different pipe, but heh it's good and they take care of you. Besides it was their father that invented audio engineer crack, they still make it great stuff, best audio high ever but each hit costs 5 times as much ! Bill Putman may have been an audio Genius, but his kids took dads genius and what they could learn on the corner and made a money machine, but heh it's good stuff!😎

For those who believe that 1176's need to be 2RU, weigh 15lbs, made in the USA and be hand soldered.... Think again. I believe the KT's can sound awesome with the design they have. I know these do : I can fit two of these in the palm of my hand, they are a dead nuts exact clone of an 1176 - sans transformers - and can easily fit into a color pallet with transformers before and after, or better yet - into a chroma with transformers and the ability to drive into it, and blend to taste behind the dry signal (something "real" 1176's can't do....) I've never been able to dedicate 2 "real" 1176's for "crush" all buttons in duty as I'm using them elsewhere, but I CAN afford to put two of these (approx $250 for a pair) into a pair of Chroma's and crush the living **** out of my drum bus and blend back in to taste. Do I miss the extra transformer a real one would have.... Um, no. These things kill it. (the rear of the board is where all the SMT lives). I have no doubts the KT ones sound killer as well - despite their Chinese heritage, Chinese "Midas" branded transformers and SMT design. I'm inclined to get one of the KT76's. One can never have enough 1176's. In the meantime, I'm rocking the Serpent Splices and the Implodes in Chroma for my 1176 duties and digging both.

All proceeds go to the "help Brad afford health care" fund. Or the "help Brad afford groceries" fund.

The hardware makes me smile. Plugs make me move on to the next task. I'd much rather use the hardware. Makes me more creative AND sounds better.

Jeez. This place deliver to the US? How much shipping I wonder. $14 to Texas. Why not, right? Edit: I just actually put it into the cart over there and it actually is $290 USD. $304 shipped. Screw it. I'm getting one. Second edit: I just tried to make the purchase and it keeps shutting me down. I put the KT-2a into my cart before I had indicated that I'm in the US. After doing so, I now see that the KT is not available to be shipped to the US from the UK. So nevermind on all of that. Maybe someone in the US will offer it at that price or match it?

$14.09 shipping to Massachusetts. If you order two, $14.33.. Regardless the price is 40% off what it costs at SW.
