So sorry to hear that. My partners and I went through something similar years ago and it was really tough. I hope something even better works out for you. Thanks man. Hope I can figure something out.

Got some devistating news this week. Landlord is giving me the boot. His business is also in my building and he needs to expand his business into my space, so I'm out. Gotta be out the door on March 1. I've spend the past 4.5 years building my business in this space. Tons of hours. Long nights. Just a total grind to keep it alive, all while working a day job and spending time with my kids. Survived through Covid and the business is finally doing pretty well. Even added a Rupert Neve 5088 in September. All to get snatched away. Spent the week scouring the internet for spaces, but can't find anything even remotely affordable, plus anywhere will require a build out in a space that I don't own. I'm totally at a loss on what to do. Considering trying to build a building on my mother's property, but have no idea what kind of cost of be looking at. Probably won't be a realistic number. Totally devistated. Man, so sorry. Thanks John.

Sorry to hear, Jesse - terrible way to have to start the new year. Hoping you can find reasonable options quickly and that this challenge is just a step towards another opportunity. Thanks man. Really bad start to the year for sure. I recently took a fully remote position and was gearing up to have my assistant start running g daytime sessions while I was in my office (in the lounge). I literally set up a new desk last week and then Monday got the news. Hopefully, I'll figure something out to be better than ever.

Sorry to hear, Jesse. You did a great job with that space. It really is beautiful. I hope you find a space soon. Don't think end of the road. Think fork in the road. Thanks man. I really put a lot of effort into making it what it became. It seems like you've been ramping up in your space. How have things been? Do you know if costs for building single story are better than 2 story or does it not really matter? I want to put together a layout idea before going to my contractor and not sure what the cheaper option would be. I feel like if I can get something built out for 100k, it would be a worthwhile venture. I've got a family friend contractor who is interested in helping me out.

jcoutu1, in an industry increasingly occupied by lowlifes and narcissistic ne'er-do-wells who don't even have a passion for music, you are one of the outstandingly good guys. Your passion for your craft and your insistence on quality -- all while actually completing projects -- are an inspiration. While I find it increasingly difficult to believe we live in a moral universe, I do believe there is still good in the world. I will be holding out hope and sending love and light your way in the days and weeks ahead: Hope that a solid, workable solution will present itself, perhaps even unexpectedly. And soon at that. Peace, brother. If anyone knows about the power of positivity, you're the guy. Appreciate the comments. I hope you and your amazing family keep thriving.

Truly devastating news. I'm so sorry for you, bro. If your mom's property is close to where you've been working, you should investigate that idea. Consult with a good designer (Jeff Hedback comes to mind) and get a solid quote from a reputable contractor and see if you can put a plan together. Sometimes silver linings come from the darkest of clouds. Blessings and namaste my friend. Thanks man. My mom is 25 minutes from my current space and could probably keep all of my clients with the move there. It's just a matter of time and money. Fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear this happened to you. I've been through it. 'Couldn't get a new spot in my city but ended up in a nearby city and all worked out. Maybe expand your search area? Or look for an existing studio who you can partner with. Share space, gear and rent. Or maybe they have an empty room.ย Best of luck! Thanks man, I need to stay fairly local since I've got 3 kiddos, but I'm looking at a pretty decent radius. Partnering may end up being an option, at least to hold me over.

March 1st? Geez. Is there any way to get that extended? At least buy a little time? He's already got a contractor coming in March to destroy the space. Wouldn't budge. Massive bummer.

In that case can you do some demo yourself? You could salvage a ton of material and save yourself costs on a rebuild.

That really stinks! You do great work -- I've seen/heard your videos. I think building something is your best bet. Maybe even keep it simple at first with a unified live/control room to start. You can always build-in a control room later as funds are available. Good luck! Appreciate the kind words. After having a fully isolated control room, I couldn't go back. But, even starting with a control and live and adding as time goes on could be an option.

I donโt have any real words of wisdom and in these situations itโs often hard to sound encouraging without sounding trite. Just know that I am sending all the positive energy I can your way. I'll take all the positive energy I can get. Appreciate it.

I'm so sorry to hear this Jesse. I know how much hard work and love you poured into your space. This is why businesses ask for 15 year leases I guess. I'm in a different, but similar situation. I have to leave my place I've been in since 2001. Post divorce, I can't afford it alone. I have to leave by March 31st, and have no idea where I'll land, or if I'll land safely. My thoughts are with you and I hope you manage to find a way through such an unfortunate situation. You deserve something good. Thanks Martin. My thoughts are with you. Divorce is a difficult thing. My wife and I parted about 3 years ago and I still am stuck financially. Hoping you can find a safe place to live.

Sorry Jesse, maybe reach out to capi, re cost estimates as he is building a new combo home, production site built , I know different than a studio space, but maybe it would give you some insights. Is there anything we can do to help in the search, like if you shared your basic requirements, search area and budget, I mโd be happy to do some online sleuthing. I used to work as an information officer, gimme a search task, I become the dog without my bone ! Thanks man. I'll shoot you a DM, but I know my budget is too low. I need it to make sense from the business end and I need to operate part time only. I'm also scared about getting into a space that isn't built out, putting in work, then losing the space.

plinker got me thinking! My pal in town Andy built a little outhouse on his property... think he said the whole construction cost him like $2,000 or something like that. Just sell one or two pieces of your high end gear and you can finance a DIY build like this. Check it out, Giraffe Studios, the guy is a busy engineer working full time:ย www.facebook.com/giraffestudio I'm not even sure if you can build an actual outhouse for 2k. Even a storage shed goes for triple these days.
