I've given up on per song rates, even when mixing, and I'm only charging a day rate. It's honestly more for scheduling, because it's too easy for me to push those "I'll mix these when I have free time" projects because I don't really have "free time" and before you know it it's been 3 months and I haven't even downloaded the tracks.
Hourly never made sense to me either, because situations like when the client says they "only needs a couple hours to do vocals" or whatever it's not like I can schedule anything else in the studio that day because it ALWAYS takes longer than you think it will.
So, I'd recommend charging whatever you need to make for yourself and your studio for a 8 to 10 hour day. That rate is different for everyone.
But, if you are looking for comparisons, which I’m assuming you are to find out if you are charging enough or not, I have 3 Grammys next to my WiFi router and recorded and mixed 5 nominees in 5 different genres this year (if that sounds like bragging it’s not intentional saying that shit out loud makes me uncomfortable), and my day rate for engineering or mixing ranges from $300 to $500 a day (not including the studio).
For a musician, $500 for an 8 hour day will get you just about any player you want in Nashville. And you can definitely get amazing players for even less. Especially if you pay cash. If it’s a union session it depends on the scale

I picked up a few PA plugs with all the vouchers they’ve been giving out…De-Verb Plus, Acme Opticom, and Dangerous BAX. Mostly as insurance because I know I’ve done mixes with them on a demo basis and want to be able to recall them without too much issue. De-Verb is definitely handy for quick “take the room out of the vocal” a bit treatment

For sale or trade I have a true studio classic, a DBX 160 (or sometimes referred to as the DBX 160VU). You’ll find these in just about every studio and they are classic kick, snare and bass compressor. I also find them useful for adding a little excitement and attack to dull vocals. I would keep it if I didn’t already have a pair.
The previous owner added XLR input and outputs. Tested and sounds great however the red “above” threshold light is burnt out. Original wood side panels are a particularly rad feature.
$1250 or would trade for a Roland RE-201 or Fulltone Tube Tape Echo, AKG D20, STC 4033A, Overstayer Saturator NT-02A, Roland SDD-320 Dimension D, Schmidlin Fed+ maybe something else just ask!

Picked up a couple of things this weekend. Grabbed the KIT Audio Blackbird Neve plugin V.2. Looking forward to playing around with that. Finally caved and grabbed a copy of Kontakt. I’ve been subsisting on Kontakt player for years, but at half off I jumped at it. Finally loaded a couple of libraries I bought not realizing they were for Kontakt full version only. So that made me really happy. I did the same as well, I found a free Kontakt library that gave me an additional percentage off and had to do it. I dumped all my partial/broken gear off at the tech (ADR Scamp modules, original Electric Mistress, couple other nick naks). I probably won't see any of them for awhile but better than looking at a pile of gear. I grabbed a bunch of 6 and 8 space Nice Racks table top racks and made an order to Redco and Mouser to rig up another tube cable for the Groove Tube MD3A pair I bought (since they only came with one) along with some other connectors I need. Going to try to start 2022 off with getting organized.

I just picked up Waves Capital Chambers and Transatlantic Plate. Trying to decide if I should do IK Sunset now… If it’s worth dealing with all the extra unbought IK plugins loaded on. UAD, Fabfilter .... they all do it. I think Sunset is worth it personally. You can download individual FabFilter installers.

At this point, I don't see how they could release it with an ac701k. If they do, they've got a big stash, as they are getting almost as rare as VF14's. If they don't have the ac701k's, they are just a clone, and I'm not interested for the price they will invariably bring. To be blunt - great M49's are THE mic that I would do just about anything to procure...... A modern one with ac701k would be the mic release of this century. I have a Bock 49 “Custom Shop” that has a AC701K tube. I *think* you can order them directly from David.

The IK Multimedia install process makes it almost not worth owning them. It took me about 4 hours to install all the soft synth stuff to an external hard drive.

Are they the original ones of the SE model they sell now? They are pretty well regarded mono blocks. $500-$700 for a working on? I'm not sure how easily they are repaired.

For sale or trade I have a Gretsch USA Custom drum set in black glass glitter.
I’ve slowly been slimming down my collection of drums and I feel like it’s time to find these a new home. I bought this kit a few years ago and they’ve just been sitting in my basement, unused, when they could be making music.
24x14 bass drum, 13x9 rack tom, 16x16 and 18x16 floor toms. They are in excellent condition and have never been gigged. Home use only. New this set would be ridiculously expensive; looking at dealers online a kit in these sizes are over $4,000. I’d let them go for $2500. I can't really ship these due to the size so local pick up in Nashville, or can meet if it's a reasonable distance.
I’d also love to trade for/towards studio equipment. Specifically I’m looking for a Chandler TG1 or Zener Limiter, Manley Variable Mu, Neve 33609, Urei LA-3A (not a UA Classics reissue), Rupert Neve Designs Portico II Master Buss Processor, Bricasti M7, Ecoplate Plate Reverb, Retro Sta-Level, Neumann U47 FET, Highland Dynamics BG-2, Universal Audio LA-2A, Retro 176, Pulse Pultec (any EQP or EQM), Coles 4038 matched pair, Black Box HG-2, POM PYE, Overstayer Modular Channel Stereo 8755DM, Upton 251, RCA 44BX, Neumann KM86, Neumann KM54 or KM56
Maybe something else? Just ask.
I’m not interested in other drums, sorry.

I'm lucky enough to be a D'addario "artist" and made an accessories order for the studio...mostly guitars picks (pack of everything they have), couple clip on tuners, drum heads, couple capos...It's a real blessing to get a discount on that stuff.
I also got a set of early 70's Ludwig drums back that I got rewrapped in green sparkle but it turns out I'm missing a few parts, so now I'm trying to track down a few pieces I need to put it back together. I used to fix up and flip a lot of drums kits but finding the bits and pieces at a price I'm willing to pay is harder and harder.

Cheapest C37P I've seen in awhile was $1650, rest have sold for $2000+. Not sure about C48's. But if you want to sell one under $1000 I'm interested! C38's are under $1K all day long, dozens available. Yes C38's are very affordable second hand. Most of them shipping from Japan (at least the ones on eBay). C48s...not so much

You’ll note the only actual ended sales you can find are $800 and $1100. Ignore the nutty asks. Cheapest C37P I've seen in awhile was $1650, rest have sold for $2000+. Not sure about C48's. But if you want to sell one under $1000 I'm interested!

Not familiar with useful arts. There aren’t too many small channel strips I can think of…maybe the old JoeMeek VC1 Brick?
Or if you had a small 500 series rack you could get into the Colour Module stuff that DIYRE sells

You might be able to get something like the Retrospec Squeeze Box to work for this. It can accept line level sources so if you had a mic to line adapter you could plug your microphone into and have an optical compressor with a simple tilt EQ. Probably won't get more than 20 or so dB of gain out of it.
