Svart This is really intriguing. Can you break down what you have done and are there any pcb's available?

So we are offering Helios EQ's in several gain stages. One is the Helios stage Another is a DOA API-type gain stage. (A favorite here). A Neve based gain stage And finally a mastering version THAT based gain stage. www.omniaarts.com

Great info here. We operate a 1 room studio and the only problem we face is headphone issues. They just aren't great as monitors.

That thread you are talking about with Volker was revealing. For one a THAT representative was being given the results of his own company's chips and with physical proof via datasheet from Volker. To wrap it up it seemed in the SSL bus comp circuit the 2150 and ne5534 were superior to the 2180 and any other op amp one wanted to put in it. It is a part of its sound and behavior. I wish I had Warm's money to put Cinemags in my bus comp builds.
That said my bus comps offer a blend circuit, prettier switches, hpf switching, and are made with love and a deep respect to Jakob from Gyraf.

Left PT10HD for Studio One but I keep PT aroundfor mixing stems made by clients who use PT. I had the whole rig with Accell cards and 192s and just hated the propriety of Avid and then their subscription. After trying out MOTU 192s and not hearing the slightest difference in converters I was done with PT. I haven't looked back and the extra money goes to cool gear.

I've been building and selling bus compressors lately with a ton of features. Make no mistake though; they are just a gssl with a bit more bells and whistles on a bit of steroids. I like the sb4000 a lot.

I hate the 3630 but one of my mentors used them all of the time. TNC ACMP with Carnhills. I like them. Vintage Designs. M81. Great preamp. Use it as much as my Great River. Behringer B2 Modded Oktavas mk-012 both modded and not, they are good mics especially on acoustic instruments. WA76 (and I own 3 other 76 type comps) Wa12. Once again I own 3 other API type comps and use the wa12 just as much.

24/96 but other studios do bitch that I am wasting space. I have always figured that like 4k I can always down sample to lower but keep a copy of higher resolution just in case.

Chameleon labs gets a bad rep but it's somewhat deserved. If you are willing to swap the xfmr it's a good piece of gear. That said retail is blah at best. If you are not looking at reselling you can swap a lot of the components and xfmr and it's pretty damn good sounding. I used the wa73 in a session and to be truthful I liked it. I like the great river more but it's the tone and hardness that I like, and not necessarily the equivalence to the Neve units. Another really good Neve inspired piece is the Vintage Designs line. They are also TK Audio and I have found their stuff to be top notch neve-ish sounding gear.

Too integrated across all major studios. If it tanked, be the wild wild west for a while until the next "standard" DAW took it's place. And that's why I keep and still use pt10 which is a great daw but for clients that are staying in place I use studio one. I don't feel one is better than the other. I even have two keyboards dedicated to PT and Studio one. But I like one price and it's mine no bs.

96k. I have 4 hard drives in my pc. 2 ssd 2hhd. I use the ssd for programs and quick edits and the hhd for libraries and cliients. Hard drives cost nothing nowadays and so to keep life easy I just keep it 96k cause I can always down sample. Other studios I track in typically operate at 48k (and they think im being a pita) so sometimes I have to compromise.

It's currently back on my repair bench again until I can get around to it, but I had used an AA microphones cm47 for kick often and it was exceptional. I never had a problem with it clipping and that was with metal drummers playing double kick. Typically i would use an RE20 or D12 beside it to get a full effect but the CM47 alone would be just fine especially if placed correctly and often during mixdown I muted the other KD mics.

But you can't really "copy" a 4-layer PCB, can you? To some degree you can if you make some educated assumptions about the inner layers, but I also explained in my lengthy design thread that the inner layers are power planes for super low impedance supplies to the various sections. This got interesting. Is that standard for audio Svart? Both layers? I'm guessing it's low voltage and you might be able to put it up to the light to see?

Dude, do the D-La2a by silent:arts. Its the best project out there imho. You get to learn a ton about circuits, voltages, audio, why hifi caps are important and where, preamps, opto compression, tubes, compression in general, working with 3 different voltages, and you get one of the best compressors out there period. You can also mod it afterward to mastering capabilities. I use it every session. I will never sell it.

Its awesome. I built my neve ended mixer using a 325 variant and app992s as well as a few jlm hybrids. Needed 24v for the never circuitry. A clever dude from Turkey named Forthmonkey designed the channel boards and had them for sale for a good minute at GDIY.

I'll echo Elliot Sound as he has great stuff with an entire book full of articles on projects and info about them. Dude knows his stuff and has variety mixed with simplicity plus stability.
Pete Millet is a good source too and yeah he has an eBay store but he designs top notch well respected pcb's and circuits. From the pretty simple to the overly complicated.
You could also check out Glassware Audio and the Aikida line. AMB is just great but it's more dac orientated but has phono stuff too.
Transcendental is considered to have some top end kits.
Dynakits are pretty famous for having kits and parts for building 50's style stereo amps like Dynaco.
DiyAudio is really the spot for that stuff. I could go on. I've built several hi end tube and solid state amps. Using several of the aforementioned companies. I've thrown arduinos in there and made a monitor controller with a rPi dac with its own amp that I was pretty proud of. Or go API.
