Guess I’m a glutton for punishment but I am feeling like building something.
I am really enjoying my different ob comps and have been wondering about anybody’s experiences building Fairchild kits.
I have been doing sone research and I remember how positively people talk about Drip gear.
Anybody built one or were there any issues with it? Anybody know of a good build they’d recommend ?
Thx!
I mean really listen to this thing ! Sounds like levee breaks to me !

If you are gonna build one, build two and sell one.
Cheers

No offense, dude, but you sure you got the chops for something like this? This isn't something you decide to build on a whim. Pretty sure there are close to $5k in parts alone. Why didn't you get in on the Analogvibes LA2A project? Seems like that woulda been a good way to go to get some experience building tube gear. Seems he had it all laid out real nice.

that’s fair comment and although I have built the c12 and 47 and their psu’s, every time I read one of the build threads for a major piece, I do stop.
A lot to be said for sober second thought: thx indie!

The build cost is crazy, and there are finished units with warranties not far from that cost.

Also, there are no "kits". A pcb and BOM are a lot different than a kit.

Dude, do the D-La2a by silent:arts. Its the best project out there imho. You get to learn a ton about circuits, voltages, audio, why hifi caps are important and where, preamps, opto compression, tubes, compression in general, working with 3 different voltages, and you get one of the best compressors out there period. You can also mod it afterward to mastering capabilities. I use it every session. I will never sell it.

I have access to a real Fairchild if you just want to pay by the hour instead!

While not the Fairchild, I just received the PCBs for Drip's Dual STA-Level build and they are freaking gorgeous and very well thought out. I believe he designs most of his stuff so there is very little guess work or extra wiring you need to pull off. Waiting on the BoM and build docs, but my understanding is the builds are well documented.
