The one that had the battery. That part of the circuit is gone allowing us to install a larger custom transformer

We do have a "Buy it now" on all our products and we have just added the deposit option for our microphones.
I am sorry to hear you have had bad experiences with other companies but I can assure you that's not us. All our customers are important to us and we work for 100% customer satisfaction. So far we have never had one complaint on our transformers, microphones or equipment. Our policy is if a customer is unhappy with something we resolve that problem.

Here's a photo of our case we had designed with custom foam inserts - the high grade stuff that lasts. It's solid and gives the mic the protection it deserves. The leads go into a top compartment to keep everything neat.

On the other side of those big "booster rocket" like caps. Kinda looks like there should be no room but he managed it!

Here's an interesting build from Richard over at B and B Studios in Edinburgh Scotland. He describes it here in his email:-
Hi Chris,
I finally got round to finishing my mic, thanks again for your superb transformer! Initial tests are a super quiet noise floor, and a sound that's exquisite. Don't know quite how to describe it.. All my other mics sound like margarine now, and this thing sounds like butter! I've put it up against a U87 and a couple of 414's.

I make a lot of transformers for manufacturers but some choose not to say who makes the transformer - I try to respect their wishes.

So that in itself would create a significant difference between the two mics. I’m guessing that’s about 4” difference between where e mics are aiming at the guitar strings that are about 3” high to low string. I would recommend hitting a really good/consistent player and record one mic at a time of minimally use two mics. Yes we are going to do some more tests soon and we will do exactly as you say one mic at a time We are currently very busy developing new equipment so hope to get it done soon.

Vocals are coming soon we promise - just a lot in the pipeline at the moment. We took the brave decision to post comparisons as we want to be honest with our microphone. We understand a Neumann is what it is and no other microphone whoever it's from is going to sound exactly the same. In fact we have the luxury of having 2 other U67's to compare and even they are slightly different from each other. We believe we have achieved a pretty close example using the best components available. During our testing phase we rejected 2 of the capsules from very prominent manufacturers, simply because we felt they were not up to the quality we wanted to achieve. Many thanks for all your comments so far. Why don't you post another comparison using EQ with your mic to add the body of the lower mids that is lacking compared to the Neumann? You mic is $5,305.00 less than a new U67. If I could see how close you could get with your mic and some EQ that would be interesting. I guess we could do that but it could be confusing posting here as some may think we are trying to manipulate our results and we wanted to be as honest as possible by having just the raw files. Maybe you could do your own test and let us know how you get on - that would be very interesting for us

Here's another pic of the mics. What are those mic stands with the curved arms? I'm not sure as this is a studio in Mallorca we used for the recording and testing. My guess is they are are probably from the 70's but I could be wrong. I will try and find out from the studio owner.

The 2 on top are the FAB mics and the Neumann is on the bottom.

There is a lot of EQ and auto tune on that vocal which makes it hard to really hear the mic, but it sounds good non the less. Hi Vincent, I checked with the studio owner and he said he didn't use auto tune on her vocal and just a small amount of bass eq. He said the reason he wanted to use our microphone was it just sat really well in the mix on her vocal with very little to do. We will get more samples up in due course of male vocal, piano, drums etc...

Ok everyone here is the first proper sample of the FAB 67 microphone by a new artist called Alissa from Russia who recorded her album in Tramuntana Studios in Mallorca. It was recorded through a TAF 4312i preamp. Remember I've had to compress the short files to mp3 for upload here so not the best quality but I think you can hear the quality of the mic shine through. Could be a good idea but as you say could be tricky also. We are concentrating on getting some vocals up at the moment. We have some tracks nearly cleared for permission to use that have been recorded with our mic - a female artist who has just finished her album. Hopefully won't be too long.

I'm hearing more of the strings on the FAB, sounds closer and more "inside" the sound. The Neumann sounds more like its observing the sound at a distance for lack of better description. Sounds close mic'd. When up close on acoustic, IME moving the mic even as little as 1 inch or rotating the capsule a few degrees can really shape the tones drastically, so I imagine it would be hard to get a perfect match. I like the FAB, seems like a good mic, sounds good! Thanks Christopher. Yes I agree, even moving a small amount can alter things a lot. We tried to be as fair as possible to the Neumann and as you can see by the photo the Neumann is on the bottom almost directly into the guitar with ours placed on top. The sound is also just the room no fx or eq. As you say it's hard to get a set up that's going to give you 100% accuracy.

Here's an acoustic guitar short clip with the FAB 67 and an original Neumann U67. Sorry they are mp3's but max file size is 2mb for attachments on here. They are raw no eq.
