If you are going to the trouble of adding all the different parts of the circuit, why not go all the way, add another T4 and put two complete compressors in the same box? There could be an option for independent use and another one that lets you switch between both for comparison.
Also, not to rain on anyone's parade, but switching between 2A and 3A without repatching can be easily done with the Golden Age stuff, since their 2A features a bypass switch in the front, like the 3A. There's another idea: bypass switch!

I think what Joshua means is that they keep all the money in their Paypal account, which is downright scary. While I've never had a problem with Paypal personally, I've read too many horror stories and I always keep a very low balance there.

If you want an SA2A, you can buy one, if you want an SA3A you can buy one, or two. Nope, not anymore. They've been discontinued.

stam Josh, I wanted to let you know I never got my 1073MPA refund from Camila back in mid-December. Sorry to bring it up here, but as it appears you’re reading this thread, I thought I’d contact you this way. It took me forever to get a $95 refund but I did get it in the end. I think your best best is to insist with Camila, she's swamped but she seems commited to making things right.

Then I think of something like Pink Floyd's The Wall, and if there were ever a series of or one great magnetic pulse that knocked out all digital memory, that it might never be heard again. You can spin a vinyl and put a toothpick on it with a piece of paper, and it will produce some sort of sound. I always liked that idea in a sort of post-apocalyptic scenario, and it made me proud of having had some of my music pressed on vinyl. Hey I just looked it up and someone bothered to make a video of it:

That mic looks really good "on paper" and it costs less than half what the Golden Age Premier does: www.goldenagepremier.com/golden-age-premier-microphonesI've never used a 251 style mic. Any hints as to what to expect? Feel free to point me to some resources to do some reading/listening of my own ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

So what is the difference between normalize and adding gain? No difference.

No benefit at all normalizing the tracks. Use a gain plugin if you need to bring the level up. Current "best practice" (quotes intended!!!) is to mix at a level equivalent to 0VU analog, whatever that is in your particular system, and especially if you are using any analog emulation plugins. A Klanghelm VUMT deluxe sits on top of all my tracks: klanghelm.com/contents/products/VUMT/VUMT.php

I have to say that getting a Fender 57 Custom Deluxe (tweed) a few months ago was nothing short of life-changing. That amp probably contains every classic rock sound ever recorded. It is VERY quirky though!

I was going to recommend the Origin 20H! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) I think speaker choice is crucial with it, I had great success with the Celestion A-Type. Although I get your comment that it’s Hiwatt-like.

My Stam SA2A finally arrived, haven't tested it yet... because a Wurlitzer 200 just showed up at my doorstep!!! Also have both and LOVE BOTH TO THE MOON! Cool! Some tips on recording the Wurly? I bought a restored unit and while it doesn’t have any bad noise or hum, its output level is kinda low. Not sure I’ll get enough gain going into the REDDI. Sounded great on my Fender Deluxe Tweed, better than the Twin Reverb. Internal speakers are also really cool.

Yes unfortunately shipping is expensive as the product has to be insured against loss but we only charge what it costs us. The mic is 1595 plus VAT shipped to Europe. There’s no way in the world that shipping to the US costs 415 € more! Talk to your accountant. You must sell VAT-less outside the EU.

In my opinion, the best way to use C1 is to "trust the force" and act as if you were actually using a console. I put it on every channel, decide if I'm using an SSL, API or Neve desk, and go for it. Not just asking you stormy, though you might know, but back in the day when engineers could only mix on real console's was it common that they'd know three different desks for mixing? Or, would they pick one and master that? I'm 43 years old, so I didn't get to experience that ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) But yes, I agree with your thinking. 99% of my C1 work is on SSL, because I decided exactly that: to master it. The Neve (which I got a deal on) is only for special occasions for me. But I did demo and buy the API and I plan to master it as well. However, "track on a Neve, mix on an API" (or SSL) was/is quite common, I think.

If you load any external plugins into the C1, they lose their GUI and any features that are not mapped. I did get their FET compressor, which is excellent, but I much prefer using it on its own when needed.

It's very rare that I need to load any external plugins on a track unless I need something very specific, either to solve a problem or for special effect. Mixes come together quickly and beautifully.
By the way, I also use Slate's VTM (tape) in the same way. It's like having a make-believe analog studio with a multitrack and LFAC. Works for me!
EDIT: forgot to mention that I love using hardware and my mixes are usually hybrid, but when I stay in the box, that's how I do it.

It’s only fair to state the good as well: Camila from Stam came through with the invoice in a matter of minutes. Well done!

So my SA2A is finally on my way after so much trouble. Now I get a call from DHL customs department. The invoice says the value is 350,000 USD, and the package contains 4,000 items or something like that. He couldn’t make any sense of the invoice that also had a wrong tax number for me. Mind you, this is in Spain, so no language barrier. Now I need to get Stam to issue a legit commercial invoice or I won’t get the package. Anybody want to guess how long that will take? ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)
