While the AML's and STA have that cool vintage grey, I wouldn't mind some color in the rack... maybe a bold red like the DW Fearn stuff...something that's says "hey I'm new and cutting edge"... just my 2 cents...

Yeah - that's cool...Sal...are we the only ones that give a damn about that stuff? I've got lots of black faceplate stuff I can't read the settings on without a flashlight.

Yeah, I love trying to give a new product a look. Sometimes vintage leaning, sometimes more modern. It depends on the sound of the product. First impressions mean a lot. So getting the look right is important.
That being said, I hope I get the Tube di right! Haha

Yeah - that's cool...Sal...are we the only ones that give a damn about that stuff? I want good looking gear too. Obviously the sound has to be there, but if 2 pieces sound good, the one with the looks might get the edge.

Ok, one more question. Does anyone have any experience with both the Ross Martin AD and the Dangerous D-Box AD? Just wondering if it makes more sense to pick up a Ross Martin and a monitor controller OR a D-Box? I think price wise both options would be fairly similar. Just kinda wondering what the better sounding converters would be. I've heard the D-Box's AD conversion is really good.

Well, if you got the RM and didn't like it, I would think you could sell it for just about as much as you paid for it considering the wait time...

Well I got to say.... the Super Beast is perfect sound wise! Head amp is nice, clear, and articulate, not harsh even on MDR-7506's. The balance is amazing... Highs to Lows nice and even... no clouding in the low mids. Hearing things on records that I have not heard in quite a long time. The big thing I am hearing is the clarity in the Lows and Highs. Lows are just solid and defined and the Highs are clean and articulate without being harsh. Reverb tails are so nicely preserved! Sorry writing while I listen to my midfields. That was definitely money well spent.
My negative.... it has a massive AC transformer for a power cord. Looks like it was taken from a security system, you know the ones with the exposed screw terminals. I am going to have to replace it since it will block 2 additional outlet spaces in my rack mount power reg/distro.
But hey, its how it sounds right!

Why aren't 1' extension cords readily available? Wallwarts are everywhere. I'm very happy with my MH ULN-8 D/A, but there's always room for a second opinion.

Anyone listened to the RM Dacs side by side against the Dangerous Dbox or dangerous source. Wonder how they would stack up. 3rd of the price. If the quality is the same i might let the Source go, use the extra cash towards other gear. Source is great though

I also do a lot of mobile work, so having an extra point of failure is usually an issue. here is what I mean.

I have a few 6" extensions that I picked up a couple months back to have on the ready for just such a situation.

It's a 14-16V AC PSU transformer. The international version does not even have a plug, due to the different standards in different countries i guess...

Get the RM and a TC Electronics Level Pilot and you've saved $1000.

Yeah this is where my thinking is going. Sell the dangerous and grab a superbeast. Already have the NOS McOne monitor controller to use with it. Ugh, 3 months waiting. Will prob order and the sell the Dangerous when Ross ships it

I have to make sure it doesn't fall out of the outlet from gravity.

No matter how this stuff looks like...it sounds amazing for any price. But you only pay a budget price to get it. Put it in nice boxes e.g. the power transformer, get the rack version, mount it however you want and call it a day. In fact, when i got my first, i did *not* expect it to be that good, even after reading the first raving reviews. Or better - *because* of the rave. And funny thing - the first minutes of auditioning it, the unit *distorted* somehow and had no bass. Well ok......no matter what it was, burn-in or what....it took a few minutes and got better and better, and eyes got wider and wider.... And we were literally shocked how good it was and listened different stuff for hours, fascinated... "9.8/10, would buy" LOL No matter, how ugly it looks. Even if it would come in a rotten pizza box.

Yeah... that's what it comes down to. I sat and listened and was astonished by how the super beast sounded. Listening on my Sony headphones sealed the deal... This is staying with me no matter what it looks like!
