Yeah, but don't expect to hear anything else for months. I'm getting close to 3 months and no response or gear yet. I'm cool because it seems to be standard issue. I also, understand stuff takes time to build and order parts.

Hi @smallbutfine,
I remember we spoke about clocking over Spdif a while ago. Been doing it with my PCM4222. No issues.
Will it be the same over adat?
Changing some things in the studio. losing spdif connections with the changes.
Will be connecting the RM ADC and (arriving soon)superbeast over adat, Just checking if I can still run my PCM4222 as master clock over adat
Thanks,
Laurence

The RM ADC and DACs stereo versions do only communicate over SPDIF or AES/EBU. You cannot connect these devices directly with ADAT, the protocols over lightpipe are completely different. Losing SPDIF or AES means you would need translation devices for those protocols... Generally, clocking over ADAT is possible, worked for me with all converters i used until now...but lots of people prefer WC when using ADAT. Whatever runs stable for you...

Sorry @smallbutfine, I actually meant optical toslink(still spdif). Sorry for the confusion(just a songwriter). :)New interface have no spdif RCA ports. that will work right? Edit. I've for some reason mistaken lightpipe for toslink

Oh well, SPDIF, AES/EBU, ADAT are the protocols, TOSLINK is the lightpipe CONNECTOR type for SPDIF AND ADAT ... just to make things completely clear ...

Laurence, will you have the Dangerous Source and the Superbeast at the same time? If so, can you do a comparison, using the Source as a DAC only? I've definitely decided to replace my Source (as a monitor controller) with the Drawmer MC2.1, but I still need an additional DAC. I'm considering either keeping the Source for that, or replacing it with a Superbeast. I'd love to have your thoughts based on an actual comparison.

Also considering the Drawmer. Must admit the source had some nice features though. My superbeast should be here in 2 weeks.
If I get a seller for the Source I will have to let it go. Not so easy to sell gear here in Australia. But I would like to compare them side by side.(superbeast)

Nice... I think you will dig the Super Beast. Finally got my rig configured and wired for the SB since the MCOne came in today from Zenpro. My old monitors have a new lease on life! I was blown away by the midrange clarity again today as i went back to a project that is starting back up. I would be curious what you think with a few options side by side. You could hang a dac on each input of your MCOne and quickly switch back and forth.

On my RM4222, every few days I'll notice it sounds really covered and I have to press the reset button...then it opens up and is clear again. Anyone else experience this? I know after switching sample rates ur supposed to hit reset, but I'm not changing anything.

what does the reset, reset? that sounds a little dodgy to me. cheers Wiz Manual says whenever you change sample rates you're supposed to hit reset which locks in new setting I suppose.

Its an absolute wild guess. I would think it would be resetting the clock.... I don't want to malign the product.... though my brain wonders, if the sample rate hasn't been changed, and the sound is changing and then a reset makes the unit sound better... thats a real concern to me. Lets verify that this is correct. If it is It could be a significant issue, and if not we should clear that up. cheers Wiz

So it's ok after you hit the reset button?
Guy: hey Doc, it hurts when I turn my arm like this
Doc: stop turning your arm like that
I keed I keed. So it just slowly starts to sound muffled? That might make me a little leery too.

I don't notice any drift… just goes from clear and clean to dark and muffled… very easily noticed… I then hit the reset button and back to normal. I really don't want to send it back and wait months *if* there's an issue. I'll send Ross and email and see if he responds and has any ideas.

Yeah. If it's quickly noticed then doesn't seem to be a prob. If it was like my last 500 rack where I wouldn't notice it was lacking headroom until I was halfway through a vocal - that's a pita.

What's the latest word on the Superbeast? I just placed an order a couple days ago and was told 4 weeks.

thats very plain, if they are telling people 4 weeks, and its taking 6 months.
Being slow is one thing, blatantly dishonest is another.

I really don't know why someone would wait. There are SO many perfectly good converters in the world--you (collectively) likely own them already.

It's worth the wait. I ordered the Rotary Super Beast Converter. It took 6 years but it was worth the wait. I keep it in my basement because it's pretty ugly.
