I'm supposed to get the new Advanced Audio CM47LE in here to demo and I'm hoping to shoot these two out. Hopefully all that's going on won't delay that. It's the perfect time to make some new shoot out videos. lol.
Did you ever get a hold of a CM47LE to try out? Curious if its a step up from the Warm.

Warm has that 'ol Vinyl record vibe. Signal Art's more clarity, and a cool bottom end. In the $2K and under Sweepstakes. Thanks, Chris My Signal Arts should be arriving this week. Any further news on this too? Chris

Did you ever get a hold of a CM47LE to try out? Curious if its a step up from the Warm. I’ve had both and I like the warm better. The cm47 was really good though. Just not as big sounding as the warm which seems to have that big bottom I associate with a 47.

I understood and merely I ntended it to be humerous. Given the unubtanium aspects of the original materials, I don’t put much truck in anybody’s claims about just like, as we have no brand new original 47’s to compare to, so who has any idea what they actually sounded like new ? We are lucky to have choices at different price points: pick your 47 clone poison ! I had a NOS one for a few years that Grosser said was the best he’d seen in 40 years. I mean it was mint and cried myself to sleep when I sold it to pay for my new studio. Then I got a Voxorama with a vf14m and a KH tuned k49 that sounded the same or very similar which was bright, deep but with a low mid resonance that gave it the character. So I pretty much know what a new one sounds like I feel. I now have another 3 with kk49 and M7’s and they have aged beautifully. The top and bottom have mellowed but still have that Sinatra thing. I also have a ton of clones and they vary from m7 mellow to K49 sharp. So I think I have a pretty good idea and the closest straight out the box of a K49 style is the Horch. That’s a little bright but the “red” proximity is so great. Then Flea make lovely replica’s if you want a mellow F49 sound. Otherwise the GAP Extended or the Stam SA 2 both sound good. I like the Beeznees K7 in a Flea for a sweet clear midrange. I never get sick of the 47’s and we’re always tweaking with them. The one I want I don’t want to wait a year for is the Heiserman. That sounds like a new U47 to me from shootouts. Like a 47 on some very gentle steroids.

Did you ever get a hold of a CM47LE to try out? Curious if its a step up from the Warm. I didn’t. I spoke with Dave a few times about checking out the Cm47LE and CM49LE, but we just never pinned things down. Eventually I found a deal on a Pearlman TM-1 with a K49 and a NOS Telefunken EF14, and I simply didn’t have a need for either the Warm or AA 47. This Pearlman is crazy good mic.

I never tried the original CM47, but did try his CM48T and I agree with you about the Warm having the bigger bottom end.

Oh you know what, I was thinking about my cm47se! That was like the regular one, but with a 47 cap instead of the 67 that’s in the standard version. I would have liked to try the le, but I got such a good deal on the warm. Really haven’t thought about 47 style mics after grabbing the warm. I’m sure there are better clones out there but the warm works just fine for my needs.

I’m sure there are better clones out there but the warm works just fine for my needs. The Warm is really nice. I even liked it as much or better than my old Peluso 2247SE. I didn’t have them side by side though. Dave did some interesting research when making the new CM47LE and CM49LE. He was able to get a real VF14 and AC701K and then match his new circuits electrically to what was going on with the proper tube circuits. So I’d still love to hear both of them. Although, I will always have a sweet spot do his CM49. That was a really nice mic. Not as Robust as my FleA 49, but still very nice. I liked it better than the WA47 or my Peluso 2247SE. Then again, I’m more of a 49 guy. Makes me still want to hear his new CM49LE.
