The modded 219's are my ABSOLUTE FAV tom mic. BTW, there are a TON of counterfeit 319's out there. To the best of my knowledge, no the 219 has not been counterfeited.

Hmm... Well there WAS the strange fortune cookie message in my 319...
Advising me to travel incognito to the Far East, as Mr. Lo Kee! Chris

It is a nice microphone to my ears. Though customers are continually calling it "dark", I guess they are to used to the; "overly hyped treble boosted K-67 style without the negative feedback network "thing"" The couple of quick listens had me thinking not bad, but I always kept coming back to the thought I would end up changing the capsule in order to live with it, or just break in and steal your BA 49đ You might not be able to get past my attack dogs, Or the drawbridge and moat

Thereâs one for $700 used here. Seems a bit high. Is it one of those things where it was just the perfect mic on this one dude and will be a mess otherwise?

Iâd watch the Guitar Center Used Gear page too. They come up $700 or below sometimes.

The $700 price doesn't surprise me at this stage. I feedback I've seen on the Warm 47 has been mostly positive. Of course, some will just say it's not a vintage, and they're right, but that doesn't mean it doesn't work for many or most.
I think I saw Chad write about this. He seemed proud of the Warm design and just said his Signal Arts design is for the purist who wants a more accurate construction to the vintage. I'm sure there is a difference, but the Warm might really be a winner for the price point.
Most of the reviews I've seen on the Warm 47jr have been meh. It works fine, but compared to other examples it doesn't really provide similar satisfaction. There's one guy on YouTube comparing it to a Stam 47 FET and I think the Stam stands out. I'm sure the Heiserman sounds great, just a higher price so a customer might not look there.

^^^^ This!
I think it's also significant that Phil O'Keefe (Harmony Central), purchased the WA-47 they sent him for HC's review. Looks like GC has a mint WA-47 complete, for $680 +sales tax/shipping online. 45 day return policy BTW. Chris

I got my purple badged TLM 170 for less then $2000. Grabbed a used BLUE Woodpecker Ribbon mic for $350 + tax and shipping.

Another alternative is to wait for the almost monthly Front End Audio 15% off everything sale. They sell it for $900 regularly, so the discount would come out to $765. - free shipping, and as of yet no sales tax like GC. Plus you have a reputable guy to back up your purchase. Just another perspective.

Vincent's right about the GC used deals.
A new WA-47 via Front End, sounds cool though.
My guess is that the AA CM48T, for around $600, might sound a bit cleaner vs. the Warm. Vincent? Chris P.S. Over the years, discovered I prefer the funkier "vintage tones" vs. clean.

My buddy Dusty Wright used the Warm 47 on his album extensively. He's a natural deep baritone, so its may seem "dark", but that's how he sounds, and there was no sibilance. it was smooth and rich. I think the vocal quality was the best I've heard under 1K.

Hmm... A $765 out the door WA-47 is gonna be a 2020 temptation for me. (So is a $425 WA-414) Gotta use/learn with what I have first!
Knowing Chad was involved designing it, is a huge plus for Warm-and my piece of mind. Chris

Forgot to insert the soundcloud track. I edited it in.
Chessaparov. Do yourself a big favor and look at the Lewitt 540 before you buy anything 414-ish. It's like a real 414, but with an improved low end.

The Warm 47jr. was underwhelming for me. Made my voice sound "smaller than life"-Polar opposite of what I look for in a 47 tube/or FET style microphone. Whereas I preferred the Heiserman H47 FET (slightly) over the mighty Neuman U47 FET RI, they put next to it, at the NAMM Heiserman booth. I think this is a magnificent achievement for Eric Heiserman, It'd be a VERY tough choice to choose between the H47 FET, and the Bock IFet (another mic I love!). BTW I've never tried the Lawson line, although AFAIK they are well regarded. My instinct is 6 micron though, for "fuller tone" over Lawson's 3 micron "clarity". Chris P.S. Sorry if I seem too hard, on the Warm 47jr. I really wanted to like it! The Roswell Mini-K47 sounded much better (very nice!). I see. I kinda wanted a fet47 for the whole kick drum thing that it does, but it sounds like this might not do it like the real thing. Transformerless, FWIW.

Over the years, discovered I prefer the funkier "vintage tones" vs. clean. That would be my guess too. I havenât had the WA47 in here. My friend has one and shared some clips of the WA47 into the Vintech x73 and the FleA 47 and a few other 47 style mics into a BAE singing the same song with no EQ with either the Vintech or BAE. I do know the FleA 47 as jtc111 has let me use his to record vocals a few times and itâs one of the reasons I went with the FleA 49 myself. My friend sent the clips to me blind and when I heard them I immediately said I thought A was the richest, biggest sounding, and most detailed of the samples, but needed some EQ to cut more and C sounded EQed and done. A ended up being the FleA and C the Warm Audio. I actually chose those two over the Wunder CM7 and the Mic Shop MS47. On his voice I actually told him it probably didnât make sense to upgrade to the FleA, because the Warm really worked. I told him to get a tube preamp like a V72 style preamp to have another sonic option instead. Lol. If you offered me the CM48T or the Peluso 2247SE Iâd take the Peluso. I had the CM48T here for about a month and owned the Peluso for about 2 years. Despite being a hair brighter/more open, the Peluso still has a bigger than life sound. It simply lacks the low end of a U47. The CM48T was more neutral and more modern. It wouldnât be my choice for most vocals, but maybe brass and various other instruments. I think itâs really priced well. I donât think itâs going to disappoint you at $599. You could get 3 for the price of 1 Peluso. I like that the CM48T has a pad and rolloff too.

I got mine on closeout (it's the original 540, not the new Subzero one or whatever) but I'd still pay the list price for a new one they're that good.

Just had a shitty seller on Reverb. He puts the Warm up for $600 + $30. I bid $500 thinking heâd counter. Declined. Ok, maybe I offended him. I then offer $575...Declined. Says he âwants $600â. I didnât bother to ask him why he had a âMake Offerâ option. So, I buy it at $600 + $30. He then cancels/refunds the sale with a message saying shipping was going to be more so he canât take less than $680. Itâs now listed at $725 + shipping.
Obviously, the guy saw he could get more and didnât want to sell for what he listed. But I didnât think you could cancel a sale for just no reason. Oh well, maybe this was a sign. Or maybe I just need to buy the one here at GC for $720 all in.

Yeah I have seen this happen so often itâs gotten comical, the only thing worse is when you list something on EBay price it to get bids say no offers excepted somebody stars sending low ball offers and complains to eBay you are not responding to questions that are really offers.

I've had this happen to me too. If I hit the buy button, I'm bound by a contract to pay for it, so why do sellers get to cancel a purchase without repercussions just because they wished they got more money? It's bullshit.

Purple badge TLM170s usually list on Reverb starting around 2k. If you look for a while you can find red badges for $1500. Woodpeckerâs usually list around $550. Iâve seen them go in auctions for $350-380, but thatâs rare. So, yeah the pricing is good. Plus I still have a line of credit there which allows me 6 months no interest on used gear, so it doesnât hit me as hard as dropping a grand all at once.
