Yeah those clips sound great, John. If that is the mic alone I'd be pretty happy. Was that your Apollo preamp? lpedrum come down to Kentucky when mine comes in and we'll do a drum session for you!

Sounds boss. Really smooths out that buzzy part of your voice.

Yeah, I really like that vocal sample, somehow more informative than the videos. I guess I'm pretty familiar with that verse!

That's one the best flat vocal mic demos I've heard. I prefer mic demos with a pinch of reverb. I don't care for any EQ or processing, but to me a touch of reverb helps me hear the mic better, which is weird, I know. So for me to like John's track means that mic is really good.

Actually think I’m keeping my Upton. It you guys must be independently wealthy, because if I want something new, I have to move something else.

Keep it. Fits right between the fatter first Chandler and thinner second Chandler track.

Teen-iest edge to Upton. Close enough where that could be down to the specific performance IMHO. I think, partly due to all the tonal options...
I'd use the TG more for lead vocal(s), in denser mixes. Chris

I pretty solidly preferred the TG when I heard these, but I think the Upton fared better than the Neumanns in those Chandler guitar/drums clips.
Will re-listen.

Yeah - I preferred the TG when I made these too. Listening back, though, I don’t mind the extra mids the Upton brings. And it’s a little less bright on the tippy top. I’m really having great success with the Shanupton, so why sell it? Well, I could pocket $1500 and have a great mic that’s probably more versatile...but I think I’m just going to keep the Upton and get the TG too.

I was surprised at the difference. I thought each was pretty different than the other. The TG sounds prettier. The first TG take was big. Big bottom, really up front, nice and present top end. The second TG was thinner, more airy sounding. A little bright, I guess. The Upton was smoother on top, not dark though. Definitely more mids. Which mic fits in a mix better? That's the question that popped into my head. Sure the TG sounds prettier solo'd, but in a mix, does the mids of the Upton work better?

Oh, one side note, fwiw...keep in mind we’re hearing 2 of the some 20 sounds available from the TG Microphone and System A is very different from System B; harmonic content etc...changes too.
