I redid that fiddle part. Wasn't satisfied with the mic or pre choice. Put a twin part on with it too. I'll see if it can all to gel. Martin John Butler for some reason when I pulled that lead in it wasn't lining up and I couldn't figure out where it went. Must have been something funny going on with the bounce. I'll try again though. BTW popmann never did properly thank you for taking the time to set up that organ rig. It sounds amazing bro, really made a huge difference!!

No prob...it still sounds a little out of tune to me against the piano sample, but that's the thing--leslie spins, and that's forgiven...

Yeah my guess is they used the piano at the church to record that and she sang to it there. Probably a bit out of 440.

** I THINK I'VE SORTED IT OUT. CHECK THE DROPBOX FOLDER FOR "SOLOS 2nd try w/effects" and another one called "2nd try FLAT!"
I've lined it up exactly to zero, and the solos begin exactly at measure 71, ( they're silent for a second or two before the notes happen).

I was bending the neck on my guitar just ever so slightly to sort of rock in and out of chords. Gives it a little more separation, and a real feeling IMO. If you listen to the track you can't tell, but if you solo'd them you could.

I'd have never guessed that was a real piano. But, that's explains it not matching. I have one sitting right here in need of tuning myself. Wouldn't you know...I'm supposed to do a piano track this week! Likely just use a sample....but...only for lack of varispeed. Mine is really good at holding the unisons and relative tuning--it's just been long enough it's slipped a little flat.
So...this is hilarious--I've been on Cubase exclusively for a few years...never needed varispeed (apparently)...now I have two instances in a WEEK where I need it. Maybe I'll just cut the piano in Reaper...I understand that has varispeed functionality. Pull the resultant track back over and keep going. That's one of those things--I've had the functionality for my entire life of recording. Not something (obviously) I use every day...but, it's odd for it to be no longer there.
Cowboy--you've been with Steinberg forever--didn't it used to have it? Certainly it did. In doing this research....EVERYONE else has varispeed...like, you know--every recorder I've ever owned.

I'd like to have a few pads with strings on the breakdown. I'm waiting on my friend Tommy D to send me a steel track. Should be some padding with that. The slow part in the middle could use a bit of color. Thanks btreim

Sure. If it sounds good on your end, chances are good it will sound good on this one. This is a collaborative piece so I'm not looking to play the producer roll too much. Just mix really. So anything will be appreciated.

Is there anything left I can do? Play in the holes through that Vox on the verses JK. And you can throw in a few tasteful licks on the choruses as well if you like. Your getting a great guitar sound out of that thing. Honestly, noy sure it needs anything...The better part of valor is discretion! Anyway - awesome job, guys. It REALLY sounds great...

Rats, I've only just now become aware of this great project. I'll give it a listen tonight and see if there is anything I can add at this point.

Here's a console mix for a review mix. Don't try to track anything to this one. It won't line up. Just for listening. Mix 5 one or two pages back is the tracking mix if anyone wants to add. I'll be wrapping this up tomorrow and sending it off to master. db.tt/OcOkEr3S

Wow. It's all so beautiful, really. That some sound your "console mix" has cowboy, the bottom's just crushing, and so big. The two solo guitars are amazing together. Was that Henge/Anton at 3:11 on the electric solo right after my solo? That guitar sure sounds gooooood..

Naw that was my PRS/Rebel 20 MJB. Wasn't convinced that was the right sound. Glad you like it though.

I know what you mean, but it matches the sound of the other tremolo electric nicely, and the part fits in well with all the other slightly country instruments, like the fiddle, and probably the steel when you get it, so it does make sense. You can always change it a little in the mix if it keeps rubbing you the wrong way. I'd raise the volume of the first few notes of your part a little. I would have guessed it was a Strat..
