Yes This is the NOS 6BA6 version, there is also the JJ 6386 one, we made both I have to say I like this one better sound-wise but a pain to build, matching 18 tubes takes time Regardless, we will make the one that sounds best, we have several tube testers and large amounts of tubes

If one were to order one now, how long would it be? 7-8 months? Not being a jerk - but I know you have to fulfill orders for the first batch.

Josh, Did you alter the control amp portion of the circuit from the original design?

That sounds like a major pain in the ass.

I'm honestly awed just looking at that thing. Stam's got real guts taking that on. Can't wait to hear how it sounds.

Hey Guys
To answer your questions
Lead time right now for a StamChild would be 3 months if reserved. I have all components and we are making them and I hope to clear the backlog in 2 months for these.
Matching tubes is done with tube testers, a little pain but critical for correct operation on this unit
The power supply and control amp are solid state but we left the tube for saturation, basically the audio path is intact and a direct replica of the original, preserving the tone.
This saves 5.000 USD in tubes and transformers which we found had no bearing on the sound of the unit
Thank you for the compliments

Were all studios a constant 100 degrees in the 1950s?

Something to be said for a more stable and consistent psu and keep tube magic just for audio path: a good innovation I ‘d say. Now, if we can just keep josh away from his r+r photo ops that backlog will be cleared in no time !

Josh-are you going with the 6ba6 for these now? They sure cost a lot less. What happens if I need to replace them do I have to get a tester to match them?

Got a StamChild update e-mail this morning, $500 extra for the stepped switches mastering version. 10 to be delivered in June, 50 in July, 75 in August. I'll have one of the standard June editions please. DHL attempted delivery yesterday of what I imagine to be a pair of Stam 1073EQs, #stamsummer2019.

I’m very tempted to order one with the 1073EQ delay discount. I have dreamed about a fairchild since I started being interested in audio after hearing a 660 in a Swedish studio when a record I produced was mixed. It was almost a chock “what thing creates this sound??” That single unit sent me down the gear rabbit hole almost 10 years ago.

I just can’t imagine the upkeep of 18 tubes. It would make me paranoid. And how freaking hot(ter) it would make my room. But it’s beautiful.

Procrastinated on the stepped switches decision for 10 days, don't like new upcharges after an order has been placed but the non-stepped gain pots on my A-designs Nail are a pain and ultimately pushed me over the edge to request the stepped switches mastering version. No complaints about the change to NOS 6BA6 over JJ 6386, looks like it's time to up my tube tester game...
