Has anybody heard of that outfit? ( ProReplicas) Looks like he's in Poland and builds replicas of Pultecs and 1176s. I have no clue about components and such, so maybe someone here with more knowledge can give some info. The Pultecs look nice and the stuff is affordable, especially if you're hopeless with a soldering iron like me. He's selling his stuff on Ebay. I don't know, maybe this belongs in the DIY section?

Those look amazing...but alas, it seems too good to be true. Looks like it's not on Ebay anymore. Surely they can't get away with using the brand names like that.

I think he's been doing it for a while. You can always contact him on his website (link in OP). One studio in Berlin is using his stuff, but they put the Pultec on Ebay now as it was replaced by a pair of Pulse-Tecs (or so they say in the ad). They also say that the sound is somewhere between a Tubetech and a Cartec, punchier than the Tubetech but less color then the Cartec. They say that it sometimes gives the feeling of a solid-state unit, a secret weapon for bass and kick (Translated from the Ebay ad). I have a Retro 2A3, so I wonder if I really need one of those?

Innit? They look pretty good, wonder if anybody has heard them. I'm looking forward to the Warm Audio 1176 (Rev D), but I really would like to change the faceplate to something like ProReplica's. I don't like that orange logo at all.

I looked at the web page, it looks to me like a hairball kit without the mnats pcbs, looks like he cooks his own, he uses ed Anderson trannys and good components, shielded wire etc. he's taken some time to match and find higher hfe transistors, by pictures and stated claims alone, my guess is for the price, you'd get a winner...??
Anyone know the name of the guy who makes these?

If I could take what I know now and retroactively apply it to the pre DIY..."me" I'd give this a roll of the dice I think, it seems he knows of what he speaks, it's true to the original schemo and the work looks clean inside.

They come pre-assembled, right? They're not kits, right?

I'm certainly in the market for a compressor...Never used a Bluestripe though. Anyone have any experience with the BS on vox? That's what it's kinda known for, right?

29 buyers give him 100% positive feedback to date. That's worth consideration.

Bluestripes are kinda hissy, moreso than the later LN models.. They have a little more distortion too, kinda adds a little grit. Overall, it's pretty much the same sound as a later 1176.

My only experience with the Bluestripe is the Waves version, and this seems to be the case with that too. Grittier. Doesn't seem like Johnkenn 's type of thing.

I had a Blue Stripe and it was heavy handed on vocals... much more aggressive than my rev. D and F.
But back to the ProReplicas... I wanna know more!
