I've got the files for the U76, WA76 and all my files... UREI Blue Stripe, rev D, rev F, UA1176, UA6176, UA2-1176, MC77, also plugs... BF76, CLA-76 (blue and black). It's an 1176 party fo sho. Just need the ProRep files from Ward (hint, hint) and I'll post new thread. Also, wish someone had the Serpent Splice. I'd like to see hairball still too. I have the IK Black 76 that I can test if someone wants that. |

I've got the files from unit7 and am waiting for Ward to send files when he is able. I have a pair of splices I also have a pair of igor's F76s Before we do the shootout, we should make sure all units are calibrated the same way for this test, meaning: all units set to the same ratio setting, and attack time if possible. Feed a -12dbFS sine (or some other db) into the unit, set either the input or output pots to some setting that everyone agrees upon, then set the other pot (if you did input, set the output) so that the unit's output with teh sine wave is -12dbFS. THEN pass the audio thru it. Robert! How about an LA3A? It would be the only other UREI clone on the market to my knowledge... Serpent Audio is making an LA3A clone via a 500series module called "Chimera". he also had his DIY SA3A, which is the same guts as the LA3A from UA. |

Good idea with this big comparison of units 1176.. I would only suggest, that setting input knobs (treshold), in every units, should be made for the indication on the VU-meter, not for scale on front panel, because used potentiometers (in reissue G/H) can have the different characteristics, the same note is for input attenuators and input transformers of different brands (in reissue A/F) . The ideal solution would be to perform a comparison in one place, with the same equipment (audio interface, DAW software, cables, ect.) for test. Robert Darowski, www.proreplicas.com |

Love my Rev D though. he was supposed to get one of these 1176 Proreplicas(i think?) about a year ago and report on it, then he went mia for about 6 months it seems? Then upon his triumphant return(we were all very happy to see him back! as always 8), it was dropped, somehow someone resurrected this thread, and here we are... Maybe he never got it? |

I was thinking about how I would like a UREI faceplate for my WA76 and remembered about these. Looks like the faceplate isn't UREI looking anymore now though. Anyway, Ward never seemed to comment on the quality, which makes me wonder how he liked it. levon, you're happy with yours? |

That's what's puzzling me, on page 5 and 6 of this thread, Ward says: I plugged in the unit and tested it conjunction with a new UA1176, the Mohog 76 and just for shits and giggles, an LA3a and an LA4. Did some back and forth... listened to and measured noise levels between all those units and I can honesly say I am extremely impressed. Robert, you have done a fantastic job!! and: And in terms of authentic 1176isheness, it blows the Mohog OUT of the water. Now, I know a Mohog is like a Rev F and the Pro is like a Rev A/B but in terms of "that sound"... the Pro Replicas Blustripe really has it.So what are you guys waiting for? He said that back in January already.  |

But, as I mentioned before, I asked Robert to use original UA 1176 Rev D trannies for my unit, so it does not have the Anderson trannies he normally uses. Made it more expensive but I love it. I also would have loved a Urei faceplate with mine, but you guys scared him off using those I guess. Mine was the first one with a PR faceplate. |

Yeah I missed that too... I hate he's not doing the exact replicas anymore...I mean, I totally get it, but there's no way you could get away with that in the states, right? Maybe he would do it for special orders  |
