Everything's fine now. Just a simple fuse. I plugged in the unit and tested it conjunction with a new UA1176, the Mohog 76 and just for shits and giggles, an LA3a and an LA4. Did some back and forth... listened to and measured noise levels between all those units and I can honesly say I am extremely impressed. Robert, you have done a fantastic job!! Pics or it didn't happen.

And in terms of authentic 1176isheness, it blows the Mohog OUT of the water. Now, I know a Mohog is like a Rev F and the Pro is like a Rev A/B but in terms of "that sound"... the Pro Replicas Blustripe really has it.

Ward, how much was it all in with shipping and VAT? Thanks

Shipping, all the other UPS, paypal & import fees/duties/customs/taxes/whatevers and stuff it landed for under $1400. Robert told me it would be cheaper buying more than one, but I just wanted one for now to test out... and it was definitely worth it.

You remember, that give fuse (slow) one value above like I wrote; 400mA or, if still will burned, 500mA. Too much value of fuse is not good, because can't fulfill task of protection. Between revision F and A-E can be a significant difference, because rev. F and next, have line output amp in class AB, in revisions A-E, this amp works in class A. By the way, revision A/B have little other values of resistors in ratio block than other revisions 1176, so it give some other characteristic of compression, for my ear a little more aggressive. The few pictures with innards is on web side (down), only on these pictures is unit with option of UTC O-12 transformer, the rest is the same as in unit, which have Ward. www.proreplicas.com/urei_1176_revA.htmlRobert Darowski

Robert! How about an LA3A? It would be the only other UREI clone on the market to my knowledge...

I really don't mind publicly sharing my email address. It's wardpike@gmail.com Fire off an email. Perhaps upload hi quality wav files to dropbox and send me the link for the shared folder? I'd like to hear the same files through yours as well. It' been eons since I used one but still remember the behavior and sound of it... to some degree. And yes, this rev.a I have is very aggressive yet not as much on lower frequencies as others! It's making my Mohog look pretty useless right about now! Once I get one of the warms, I'm making a decision on what to do next. But so far, I can see more of Robert's units (a/b and f/g) in my future.

Robert! How about an LA3A? It would be the only other UREI clone on the market to my knowledge... The LA-3A is to be done, it's even simpler construction than the LA-2A, but in little manufacture like my it require time for initiation.. On this moment I begin implementation LA-2A, for one customer from Europe, so probably this equipment appears soon in my offer. When it comes to Mohog 76.. This is practically clone, I see in inside, that there are used standard OEP transformers, and second option for output is Carnhill (currently on their website it says, that the are use also of other transformers on output, Edcor, and on input are used the same transformers like in my revisions A/B and D). Moreover, I suspect, that used transistors are only the modern substitutes, even without try to use the old NOS transistors. I produce few years ago clones 1176 rev.G, with modern substitutes of transistors and OEP transformer on output, and some number of units went to customers in Europe but it costed around 690 USD. After initiation replica of revision G we made audio tests between these clones rev. G and replica rev. G and was can hear the difference; my friend, audio engineer, said, that the replica sound is "more cultural", and for me is just more close to original. Here i picture with inside Mohog 76: i869.photobucket.com/albums/ab254/MohogAudio/1176035.jpgHere also can see connecting wires to the board via screw terminals, I personally do not trust this solution, it's very comfortable at montage but after few years can (though also not necessarily) require loosening and cleaning the contacts. Just, it solution, after the time, is more prone to disconnecting than soldering. Robert Darowski, www.proreplicas.com
