The teuchel looking connecter looks badass too. It does. I think you'd have to rewire the 7 pin MaxMod cable into it though. I'm not even totally sure where you get that mount. I asked a couple dealers who literally have that exact pic on their websites and they said they didn't actually sell them. I couldn't find it on the Neumann parts page either.

If only Telefunken were still in business and you could just order it from them... like, if they had a shop/factory in Connecticut or something....

Ward , why go to Telefunken-USA to order a Neumann product? That swivel mount is the 'Neumann IC4' Comes up used on Ebay all the time, and you can still buy them brand-new from euro and US dealers. To make it work, just swap the cable and connectors to whatever number of pins the mod uses. Comes with 3-pins stock, made to fit the U87 (wouldn't take you more than an hour to solder all of it up, no different from making a normal 5 to 7 pin XLR cable)

Some where we crushed some guys dream of pulling the trigger on some cool CNC and water cutter to make us all happy by building this mic mount one at a time, now he has to go back to makeing meth! Some where we have killed a dream!

I'm curious, forgive my lack of understanding, I haven't soldered anything more than a guitar cable over 25 years ago, but swapping the cable and soldering different connections doesn't affect the signal quality in any way?
If a mic cable has 7 pins, wasn't that done for a reason, instead of 3?

If a mic cable has 7 pins, wasn't that done for a reason, instead of 3? As long as the contacts (pins) are all connected correctly it won't affect anything.

You can reuse all the existing hardware too. Just swap out the plastic inserts: www.avalive.com/Switchcraft/QG7M/130434/productDetail.phpPretty sure you can even send your IC4 to Redco, tell them what you need, and they'll mod/solder it for you - their prices are extremely fair as well.

That would be super hot, aesthetically (the nickel body tube/black badge, integrated IC4 mount) but I can't spend upwards of $600 or so do get it there. I'll probably just take George Neumann's big head off the TLM body and use it that way. I think it will look good. I kinda like the color scheme of the TLM67, just without that gawdy head on it.

You might want to check at group diy see if you can just buy one ?
This rings a bell that on the mk-u47 build thread they showed you how to use the supplied end or the teuchel
the extra pins support they single and or double capsules as well; right ?
You just follow the pin out from the mike , as long as yo don't cross wires ( they are colour coded) to the other end: you'll be fine !

If you get one of those mounts from eBay, the new body-tube is around $200, and end bell is $120. Gotham cable and connectors won't be more than $60. Can definitely be done in budget www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=ic4%20neumann&LH_Complete=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2045573.m1684

The new prices I saw were like $400ish. I wouldn't even really need the end bell. It's nickel on the TLM67 (though it does say TLM67 in the black ring).

Nice, never noticed that. So all you really need for it to look money, is the $200 tube.

Yeah. It's like $220 or something and another $20 or so for a black badge.
That I might go for sometime.

Go for it ragan those are some great links Jake posted. I was pricing a tlm ( used )+ max mod and I was around $2400-$2500 without the U series body tube or historically correct badge. The tlm was around $1800-$1900 for around a month while I was searching, so hearing what you got yours for is awesome... All in sonically and aesthetically you still be way under what my costs would have been. I agree the big head on the mic body is not pleasing however the gray color scheme overall is! Glad you are enjoying your mic 🎤 🤠

Just tracking some more vocals with this thing. I'm ready to stop fucking around being concerned about honeymoon periods and circumspection and blah blah blah. I HAVE FOUND MY MIC.
(I'm sure you were all waiting with bated breath)
67 --> Great River --> WA-2a......just absolutely giving me what I want to hear.

I second the Max Mod through a Great River mic pre. It would sound great through most any pre - but that's the same combo I used in my tube samples I posted here earlier in this thread.

Did your Great River have the EQ side? I just used one for a day, and it was obviously really good, but didn't slay me. So I was wondering it you use the Great River EQ with yours.

I don't have the Great River 19" rack EQ (can't remember what it's called) but I do have a pair of the Great River Harrison 32c EQs which are my favorite EQs. I forgot to mention that in the chain. For tracking, just a little HPF, before the WA-2a.
