Picked one up today.
Moog audio up here in the Great White North has them for 10% off as of today. Not sure how long that will last.
Cheers, G

I'm still loving this comp. haven't found a mic or a pre that doesn't sound better using it. It's one of those rare pieces that makes everything that it passes sound better.

Just a point of order, here... It's not really a Rev D clone, is it? More of a Rev E, from what I can tell from the history of 1176 variations.

Every effort was made to remain faithful to the original designs including the use of Reichenbach Engineering's (now CineMag) transformer design that was originally used."

cowboycoalminer I'm just wondering if it's redundant for me...I am obscenely happy with what the Sta does on vox and then the UAD 1176's are really great.

cowboycoalminer I'm just wondering if it's redundant for me...I am obscenely happy with what the Sta does on vox and then the UAD 1176's are really great. Well that's how I've been using them on vocals too, JK just in reverse order. I'll track with the Warm and then finish it off in the mix with the Sta and sometimes that CLA LA3a. Never hitting any of them hard in series like that. Probably never pull more than 3 or 4 db on peaks with the 76 during tracking but it does add girth and punch.

And I'll add that the UAD 1176's do sound wonderful. Then do an A/B of the UAD and the Warm on a mix and the Warm sounds more wonderful.
Ha. All good things, Happy. All good things...

Won my hockey pool which ended up being more than enough for the Warm, but I'm in the middle of a divorce and it all sucks and blah, blah and i didn't want to spend any money on me (cuz the lawyers need it more, ho, ho, ho) or in case it's used against me although there's no shortage of Fleuvogs in my house and they don't fit me. And, while its been a long while since I've used an actual 1176k I didn't love them. But, coulda been user error/ ineptitude. I think that qualifies as a digression! But anywho. Fuck it. After the aftermath, I suspect I'll eventually get back into recording stuff, and this will come in handy. and as you said - great deal! Cheers, Geoff

If $690 CAD is a great deal, you guys have it rough. That seems to equate to about $630 USD. We can get them everywhere for $600 shipped to or door. Can you guys by from a US dealer? You might be able to do better importing.

I am amazed at how good the WA76 sounds for tracking vocals. I keep going back and forth between that and my Retro Powerstrip and it really holds it's own. Haven't had the chance to try the powerstrip into the WA76 yet, that will also probably bring something pretty nice.

You might be able to do better importing. The 690 is with taxes. If we import we're still likely to get hit with taxes, plus shipping, and maybe customs fees as well. Doubt we'd come ahead on this. The pre tax price was 612 which is 560 or so in US funds. Cheers, Geoff

Who charges you taxes? Is it the retailer? If you purchased from Musician's Friend, for example, would you be charged tax? I know for us down here, online retailers don't charge us tax unless they have a physical presence in our state. We also score free shipping on everything. I imagine that you guys would get a shipping charge and possible customs fees and I have no idea what that would equate to, but would you be taxed as well? I'm curious about how the whole thing works because I've almost purchased some stuff from a Canadian retailer that had some good deals (especially with the exchange rates), but didn't end up going for it.
