.....next to vintage 550/550a's[all a little different].sonically they're kind of in between. This has been the general consensus overall. Johnkenn and I came to the exact same conclusion with the prototype. I guess our ears are in sync! Winning indeed!

Got home from lunch just in time to snag mine. In the time I added to cart and selected DOAs, the number in stock dropped by two. Then, just after ordering, I hit refresh and saw it drop by another(someone elstes order not mine).
They's gonna be gone soon! Looking forward to putting mine together.
Might I inquire, Jeff, why 1731s were the chosen DOA's for the BT50 testing sound clips? You may want to play those cards close to your chest, so I am prepared for a white house press secretary non-answer if need be. I would surmise that if you want maximum smoothness, the 1731s are a good choice.

I've been experimenting with cleaner opamps in the EQ's. ie. Gar918's, Hairball JE-990's, LME49710 IC's (A1 input position only) and the Hybrids.
I'm even contemplating trying a Jensen high nickel output transformer in an EQ with a 990 driving it.
However I tend to stick with the Gar2520's and the Gar1731's in the preamps for initial colour.

Nice. Lots of tonal options. I'm good with the 2520s for now. I like red dots but dont want to pay for them :-)
I heard some abx with 2520s, 1731s and red dots - the red dots did seem a little closer to the original 312 opamp sound, but they were missing something that the 2520s had. I like the forwardness of them Red dots though... I may try some at some point.

Sweet!! How was the build difficulty and build time? Well, wouldn't exactly call it an "easy" build, especially building all 8 at the same time!

Holy hell jsteiger !! Just built 1 of these yesterday. It's sitting next to 2 550s (serials are mid 2100ish and 2500ish) and it is indistinguishable to my ears. The 2 original 550s sound so different from each other that in a blind test I'd never be able to tell which is which. I can hear differences but nothing at all is lacking. The BT50 is bad ass. I had a room at sound factory for a year and used that console in B for dozens or hundreds of sessions and I know that none of those EQs matched the others sonically. They all had mild differences. Im confident you could slip a BT50 in there and nobody would hear that it wasn't an original. This is the eq I'm filling the 1608 with no doubt. It's fkng killer and the build was a walk in the park compared to the some kits. Not EASY but painless and simple. It's just a lot of parts. The layout is genius, the sound is everything I like about the 550s sitting next to it. Put it on a guitar, boost around and smile. Feels like someone gave me the key to the safe deposit box where they keep good guitar sounds. Snare drum? Retarded. So good. I'm totally unqualified to do this but I'm gonna go ahead call this thing a masterpiece. Ease of build (due to the layout), look, sound...amazing. Good work Jeff. Thank you. Oh yeah...when will they be back in stock?!? And about that Instagram photo of the mixer...and the other thing that I'm sure is gonna go with it...and that double slot thing...and on and on. Killing it

Finished building 8 of the BT50's! They are so, so good. Keeping a pair in my rack, which means I have a few extras... You terrify me. They are indeed so so good. Nice builds! Hat's off for doing 8! Honestly, if you are going to do multiples, it makes the most sense to do them simultaneously rather than go back and start over. Maybe I'll do a few that way.

Just wanted to gush on this EQ again for a bit. Mixing bass fracked through a Zod. I'm taking this track back out through the Zod->SA-2A->BT50. Boosted the hell out of 800hz and a couple clicks of 100hz and BAM (the filter tightens things up)! I'm creeping up on some of my best bass tones. I've always struggled to get the low end to cut through but still just fill the pocket. jsteiger you crazy genius!

jsteiger, you had a version of one EQ you thought would get rolled out with an option to limit gain steps to a smaller range like 1 dB, don't recall which one. Still a thought? Guessing that's a relatively easy change in resistor values, even if there's no matching faceplate for it.

I hate to say it but their delivery times have been shit since Warm started using them. I guess my 250pc orders every 6 weeks or so is just not big fish enough. I was told that I would receive the first small part of my order last week and the rest mid Feb. Still waiting for an update. All I can say is "any day now".....

Jeff - as long as we're talking backorder, any idea when the VPR 11 sp racks will be back in stock? I have a new set of 11 space rack metal in the works. I ordered a small proto batch before the end of last year. I actually expected the shipment to arrive last week but am still waiting. As soon as I approve these parts I will order production. I estimate 6-8 weeks all in, hopefully less but that has not been going well as of late. The new version will have an optional rear panel with DB25 in/out for slots 1-8. Slots 9-11 will be XLR only.

But the standard style rear panel will also be an option Jeff? I need #5, and would like it to be the same as what I've already got. Wiring looms already made. I could go to a different rack, but would like to stay CAPI. Thanks for the update.

Oh yeah XLR only is the other option. I just hung up with my metal shop and they will be shipping the proto parts for eval today or tomorrow. I should have them before the end of the week. I will get these screen printed and then will have 4 XLR and 4 Dsub versions to sell before the production load comes in.
