What a score, Congratulations!
Thanks Mike for helping (egging) me to pull the trigger! I've started pulling up old recall notes and doing comparisons, these AMS 1081's are very, very close to OG 1081's. Comparing the AML's to them the AML's are still very similar but I guess I'd say, more safe? I'll know more as I test more but I'm really loving them regardless.

After years of wanting a pair, the shift from a seller's to buyer's market coincided with a flood of work and I was able to snag a pair of the AMS Neve 1081 reissues in the AMS rack. Only just arrived and I'm still in the honeymoon phase, went straight to working on a song so I haven't done the deep dive A/B against my AML 1081's or even the test files I have from renting OG 1081's yet but these just feel right and are very inspiring to work with. Feeling very lucky to have crossed these off the wish list. I was spoiled with having 4 channels of the OG’s and 4 channels of 1084’s at the studio I came up in. Never realized how much I’d miss them and how I’d never be able to make myself spend that much money on them hahah. Congrats - they will serve you well!

Yeah, luckily they're scratching the itch without having to pay vintage prices. My buddy has a bunch of original 1073's and 1084's and last I was over he needed me to quickly jump in the seat while he laid down a part. I was reminded how right they feel and how that sound is just imprinted in my (and I'm guessing most of us here's) head.

I spent way too much, but I finally found someone to make me segmented ovangkol wood hoops, shaped like Guru Drums used to do, for my Guru Drums -inspired snare drum. Put in my order to HHG Drums!
In addition, during this latest-round of looking for someone to do this for me, I ran into Red Rock Drums and their unique special eucalyptus hoops sold me and I had to try them too!
Both made-to-order custom pieces, so it’ll be some many weeks before I see them, but I’m truly excited!

I just bought two Zeiss Otus lenses: a 28mm f/1.4 and a 55mm f/1.4. Zeiss is exiting the photography lens market (will still probably make some cinema lenses is my guess), and the Otus series is the very best, top-of-the-line series Zeiss ever made. I happened to find a couple used copies for sale at like a third of the new price.
I swear to everyone here that I am rapidly approaching the end of my Zeiss acquisition phase. Only a couple more I’d like to get at some point (Otus 85/1.4, maybe Otus 100/1.4, maybe Zeiss Classic 100/2).

Quite a few things this week.... all postponing my H251 of course/ Got two more Lauten Audio LS308s. Now I have 4, for Tom tom mic'ing. Any other applications? We'll see... and picked up 3 more great K&M stands. Never can you have too many microphone stands. Also bought an RCA77dx in mint condition, thanks to timcampbell (I truly appreciate the tip!) Now the seller has another and a pair of silver 414EBs with the original brass capsules in mint condition on offer to me. <sigh>

Ooo I bet that 28 is gorgeous. What camera are you using?

Got two more Lauten Audio LS308s. Curious if you have ever tried the LS-208? That mic has always had some interest from me but I've not had the opportunity to ever give it a go

I have a silly number of other Zeiss lenses to choose from (I think I'm up to 16, maybe?), but am seriously excited about these two Otus lenses arriving.

Not sure what if you're using these for stills or video, but still recommend checking out the Beastgrip DOF adapter. One can do amazing stuff with vintage lenses. I'm also not a photographer so I'm not sure how broad of a stroke "vintage" is.

Trent really has something special in the 308 and 208 with their ability to reject unwanted off-axis interference. The 308s are amazing at rejection.... still getting used to them for placement yet as they're not as forgiving as the Neumann U89s that were in the previous service for tom tom duties.

I’m kinda of afraid of these, mainly that I’ll fall in love live, $500 bucks and the general size sounds insane for live use. As I was telling Greg Lee this AM the most time consuming part of live setup is wringing out wedges if they cut that time $ and size means very little.

Anyone looking for a mint AS Opto with an additional Kenetek T4B?
