Picked this vintage unit up; How expensive could one new hobby be? Should have plenty of funds available for new gear purchases, right? Is that a Mcgregor 26? Yeah, '96 Macgregor 26X. I'm in Arizona, which is not known for it's sailing, so we flew to Salt Lake City to buy it, towed it 379 miles South to Lake Powell and had our first overnight voyage. Going back up in a couple of weeks to start fitting her out.

My wife is from New Zealand and spent her summer holidays as a youth sailing around the Bay of Islands in a 32ft yacht.

New Multi meter for the go bag showed up today, the LCD was dying in the one I think is at least 30 years old go figure. I have an old WI made Simpson on the bench. Homer?

Yeah, about that... got notice our new genoa just shipped. The previous owner recently did all the maintenance on the motor, steering, new batteries, electric, fuel lines... but didn't even have mast/sails aboard, used it strictly as a trawler. The standing and running rigging looks decent, but the sails are done, knew that going in. So it begins...

The Mac 26 was the best selling sailboat of all time so used sails are pretty easy to find, there are a couple of websites out there Google is your friend. The only possible thing that might cause concern is some find the cabin stuffy so AZ heat might be an issue, I would want a Bimini but that’s me & my easily sun burnt and heat sensitive self. She looks really good!

Picked up a Peavey Backstage 30 for $30. Fun solid state amp, famously? used by Paul Weller of the Jam. It’s got a great “edge of break up” sound.
Hopefully trading for a Soyuz 019 (017 FET). Fingers crossed

Hi, my name is Plinker, and I have a boat problem...

That's the Macgregor powering up a narrow canyon on it's first outing. As to whether a Macgregor is a sailboat or a powerboat, I'll just say - I wouldn't join a club that would accept me as one of it's members. Headed back up to Powell the week of Thanksgiving to rig the new sail, but more importantly for that trip - install a propane heater, stove and cockpit shower! It looks like an Amazon truck threw up in my living room right now... Let me know if you head to Northern Arizona/Southern Utah Eric, we can take a three hour tour, a three hour tour...

Yeah -- that was the basis of my comment: when using a motor, a sailing vessel must adhere to the regulations of a powerboat. I love that boat, BTW! Really sweet ride.

Picked up Softube's take on the Weiss DS1-MK3, got interested in it again after demoing their Flow mastering suite and the BF deal suckered me in.

BN251 ordered ! Got it for the net bug-in-the-matrix price of 3200e. I could have had it at 2900e if I had acted faster & wasn't such an undecided chicken.

My SAMAR ShokBase has been delivered and is mounted on my Atlas MS25 stand for testing with my SDC microphones.
I have the One Dot version for microphones less than 8 ounces.
Looks like a solid build, looks good and it is fitted securely to my stand.

Just ordered a used Beyerdynamic MC834. Some fellow here in der Schweitz was selling one on a local website about a year or so ago and touted the microphone as a large capsule condenser. When I pushed back and informed him that it was approximately in between a large and a small capsule at 31/44 inches he became very irritable and told me that I was misinformed. We went back and forth a few times before I wished him well and hoped that he sold his ware. Oh boy.

It has no way for a mic to know what exactly it is, other than a good mic. Who cares about size?
