I will post the link here, when my koala and wombat powered internet finish uploading... they are sleepy today. Click Here To Download ... its 450 Meg(ish)Above is a zip file to download. It has 3 mixes in it. 1. Dry 2. Bricasti 3. Relab 480L the files are 96Kz/24 bit the whole download is about 450 Meg. I figure, comparing a Bricasti , if you want to hear it, you will download it... no soundcloud for this test. 8) So, the mix was done Dry. I figured that the fairest way to show this. Then a aux bus was set up, and a post fader post pan send created for EACH track and 0dB sent (unity) from each track EXCEPT the Kick which was -9.4 dB. On that aux bus is inserted a I/O plug in going to the Bricasti which was using the LUSH ROOM Setting. The Relab 480L is on Random Hall. Both reverb times are matched as are approximate volumes.. I did this by listening to the reverb return on its own. I turned on the Relab for the Relab test, and the IO with the Bricasti for the Bricasti test. So its as apples to apples, as it can possibly be, without using a compass and a slide rule and a hat with a propellor on it. What is interesting is to listen to the dry mix, then each wet mix, and listen to how the EQ changes on instruments.. and their placement etc. Its quite revealing listening to the reverb return..I haven't included those, the files get too large to download. Now, as with all things, personal preference is going to come into this... and I am sure a lot of people are going to listen and say... "I don't like the song" "I like the dry mix best" "I would have retracked that guitar" "Can you post a mix 2bpm faster?" "The Beatles did it better" What do I say? I say, that its remarkable how this thing makes those dry close mic'd sounds, sound like they are all together in the same room, and its remarkable how it doesn't change the EQ of the source signal. It sounds quite beautiful to me , what its doing. For me, with the room I have, you can hear how it is in the dry mix, it works perfectly taking that dry mix and "sprinkling it with fairy dust" and makes the song way better IMHO. I hope everyone listens on their studio system and gives the mixes a fair "suck of the saveloy" as we are prone to say here in Oz... I will explain "saveloy" in Nashville to you guys in person 8) I suggest importing the three mixes into your DAW of choice.. then you can solo, mute, split em and mute em..and compare all the live long day... I will buy one. Its great. cheers Wiz ************ here is a file added on 5 Sep 15 its the song with Waits Room from the Bricasti Waits Room************

I don't like the song and I like the dry mix best and I would have retracked that guitar. Can you post a mix 5bpm faster? The Beatles would have done it better. Actually I don't have the band width to down load

If realism is your aim I ask myself if we have someone around here with one unit of Quantec Yardstick?
I heard that algo two times in a studio and was blown away.....

the relab is decent, but by comparison, it holds the image flat and sends the decay out to the edges, the placement of the overall instrument imaging flattens out. the bricasti puts a depthful placement on everything in the image while maintaining/creating a very real air around them, and the decays go straight back in a very real and 3d way, it's very good, there is also an "ease" to the sound that it is just killer.... GAS!!!

Thanx for taking the time to do this example Wiz, nice tones man! we should track this tune when you get here for fun! and we'll use the Bricasti on the mix before you stuff it in your suitcase for your trip home to the land of upside down under 8) I can't believe after all the eye rolling and naysaying on the other thread, that no one is even bothering to listen or comment on this example? Hearing is believing! This thing sounds worth every penny to my ears, it seems as important as any piece of gear i've ever heard if you are a singer/acoustic guitar type, and have less than a spectacular room.

Hey Man... well, it is a large download.. and maybe that puts people off, vs soundcloud. But.... anyone who seriously wants to check it out, I reckon its the only way... 96K 24 bit.. that comes with a big download count. Sure, lets track it... you play drums, I blow... 8) cheers Wiz

One reason I don't get to listen much is that I'm usually surfing on my mobile devices or laptop. Sometimes I'll listen on the laptop, but it doesn't really serve a purpose. When I'm upstairs in my little studio it's usually to work, so I tend to forget about listening.

Hey Wiz, I appreciate you making the sound files. I know it's frustrating when only a few people listen to them. I'm going to download them and check them out either today or tomorrow. My DAW does not have internet connection anymore, so I have to use my laptop and then copy over to USB stick and then put it on the DAW.
That said, I don't need to be sold on the M7. To me, it's the only box (plugins included) that creates realistic spaces. I have one along with a Quantec Yardstick. I know, I'm a reverb whore. The Quantec is nice, but it does not sound like a real space to me compared to the M7. They do make a nice combo, but the Quantec is very limited in what you can do with it, and it has a certain sonic stamp that it puts on every single algorithm that I can pick out every time. The Quantec is also difficult to maneuver and edit patches compared to the M7.

I felt it important though, given the subject we are testing here.. the high end verb and I wanted to give others as close to the same experience for them, as I am having here. cheers Wiz

I haven't listened, but I have to admit...the constant hype works on me. Probably (although I remember you had cowboys for a few days, and so I should keep that in mind, that you have tried it.) easiest for me to describe it as like my experiences with things like KM84 STA 1073 each of those thing absolutely lived up to what I had read. When I finally got them, I decided they were worth the investment. Sure, you can get other SD mics... and some you might really like, but none of them are a KM84 8) cheers Wiz

I lucked out getting to borrow one, that was an absolute fluke.. especially here in Oz... I would really never have gotten to use one, and would have had to go in cold... With it in front of me, its been a real ear opener. For me, I stress again, for me.. sitting here... it just f$(ing eats the IRs of the M7. Now for years I have used those and told myself.. that they are close enough, cause thats what everyone says... close enough.. I , again, I, don't see how anyone can really say that.. that has sat there and shot out, properly, geebus, even badly, IRs against the real thing... For me I would describe them as the difference between making love and being told about someone making love... 8) cheers Wiz

I would love to hear, if anyone tries something over the dry mix, that satisfies them that its as good ... .or even good enough as the Bricasti version...
In that, what I am looking for is putting all these things in the mix, together in the same acoustic space... .and that space being beautiful.
cheers
Wiz
anyone able to do it with UAD Ocean Way?
cheers

I downloaded the files before the links went dead. It's in a "Wiz" folder! I'll check these out when I get some time, as I said previously. I've got some hardware coming in a couple of months (ordered in May). That'll give me some flexible routing to try some new things in addition to what I've got now.
A lot going on here with remodeling and different types of work, so this is understandably not high priority. But, I'm always looking to try new things or do something better. I'll reference these as I go along. Thanks for taking the time to do this, Wiz! It's a neat opportunity for me to craft some better routing and workflow.

To make a long story short wiz. I compared it with the Lexicon Rooms of the PCM 96, did tweak late and early a little, as well as Base RT. I was expecting that the difference will be like night and day. To my surprise: The difference I hear is not worth a few thousand dollars. That may will turn with different algos, but the Rooms are very close.

Tony I did a lot of testing but its nothing you could call a scientific test in terms of correct send level. I had to do it by ear. Should I post my file anyway?
