I'll be interested to know your thoughts after using it awhile. I kept mine 3 or 4 months. They sound great but I decided I didn't need it in the end.

No doubt an act of intense generosity...or is it keen business sense? I wonder if your friend isn't setting you up for a pricey purchase - The hard part is going to be giving it back; you might just have to buy it instead! You know how those gear-pimps work; the first fix is always free!

Those are supposed to pretty nice units but I'd send it to jsteiger for some Litz and red dots. Whole new ballgame..... Seriously though - I'd really like to get your opinion on this one. Especially vs. Valhalla and Relab L480.

It arrived Friday morning, its Sunday morning here.
I am stunned.
The box is the easiest reverb unit I have ever used, EASILY able to operate and utilise without opening the manual. Well thought out and designed.
It sounds, INCREDIBLE.
I have never used a reverb unit, plug in, whatever , that sounds as good as this does.
REMARKABLE.
KM84 of Reverb.
I cut a 4 track acoustic guitar and vocal EP and mixed it with this thing... it sounds beautiful.
The Halls, and Chambers in this are to die for.
I am blown away.. it reminds me of the sort of experience I had, when I first sang through a 251 and a U47.. its in that rarified air of gear.
Staggeringly good piece of gear, and something that I will eventually be buying.
Simply wonderful
cheers

Especially vs. Valhalla and Relab L480. No comparison... The hardware Bricasti is a sonic freak of nature on a whole different level. The Bricasti glues to the source and creates space unlike any other verb. Valhalla and Relab are both real nice for plugs, but the Bricasti is untouchable by plugins. A Lexicon it is not. It has taken me years to fully appreciate, but when you learn the Bricasti, it does something no other unit can do. You bypass it and realize how ridiculously good it is.

I heard a blind sample from wiz that he set up with the L480 using the same basic parameters, a very subtle amount of verb, not at all slathered. It took exactly 1 listen to each track to hear it, the bricasti is seriously good, it sounds so friggin realistic it's not even funny, if you are an acoustic guitar guy, and don't have a great room, kill it and get one of these, you have to have one if you're doing anything that has lots of audible reverb and space, it just moved right to the top of my must have list.

You guys are killing' me. This is so far off my radar, but I auditioned it at AES two years ago, and it was plain to see how good it is.
The guys at Bricasti told me a plug will never happen, it's too complicated to do for some technical reasons that were over my head then. They said UAD had already spoken with them about it, but it's a no go.

What's better? How about one for free? I got my M7 for free. I was given a Lexicon 224X years ago from an LA rental outfit, "fix one you can have one", so I did. Used it for years until I heard the M7, sold it the next day, got the M7 for free.
"Too many mixers, not enough fixers" was all I heard in the early 1970's. It's still true.

hey jim, when are you gonna come out with your own "svartbox" that we can all scoop up and never need converters again?

Are the Bricasti IR's really that inferior or are they a good (decent enough) alternative?
