OK, now I'm pissed off. UAD sends me an email announcing UAD version 8.0, and I'm left out of it? I paid $2,000 for an Apollo when no one knew if this thing would float, and I'm repaid by being ignored. Essentially they're saying too bad if I can't afford a Thunderbolt card? Fine, if they weren't just giving it away to new customers. I can get a Twin for $699, and they still insist on asking their bread and butter customers $500, just for a card alone. I'm sorry, but something's just very wrong about this. The very very least they can do is offer those of us left out in the cold a hand back in. Like I said, either a one time only at cost Thunderbolt card, or a special offer 3 plugs for $399 with a T-Bolt card.
I'll really consider dumping UAD if I have to, and I've been a vocal supporter of them since day one. One customer may not matter, but a reputation does, and with the power of the internet, we have a voice that can be heard by thousands, and hundreds of thousands. Where are we at with our little Apollo thread over at the site which shouldn't be named? a million views. That ought to tell them something.. don't bite the hands that feed, they may start biting back.

How do you hide ADAT and Virtual channels now? I can't figure it out...

Martin John Butler all apollo users will have console 2 functionality by the fall initially it has just been released over thunderbolt, not to slight anyone but probably because it was easier and less problematic. while as a fellow early adopter I understand your perspective, are you truly making the argument that UA or any company should without features until all can have them and yo ignore the advantages of a better comm protocol over the vulnerabilities of a lesser protocol ? UA is in a highly competitive space where is its answer to the new apogee ensemble ? I am personally grateful that ua has chosen to invest in adding significant new features to our existing interfaces, in effect renewing them and if a phased timing approach is required how is that so terrible ? All our apollo's work as advertised and all will get these new features too: just not all at once. C2 is nice to look at does it actually make my recordings sound better ? Not at all . the best thing in your system my friend is whats not in your system at all: those great ears of yours and all that musical knowledge between them is a shitload more important than the eye candy and some workflow enhancements that you'll have soon enough anyway on FW in the fall: why its almost poetic what pathos

kcatthedog - you know how to hide channels in the new console?Or do they just not have that feature anymore since you can re-size it...that would be a bummer actually...

I feel your pain John.
Kcat, I didn't know they'll be implementing this via firewire, that's why I was so pissed. This makes me feel not great, but a whole lot better. Thanks for letting me know.
Well, I'm not going anywhere right this minute, there's no money left to work with after getting the Avantone Abbey's last week. Now THAT's some real bang for the buck I tell ya.

I was suggesting UAD create a buy in plug offer for non-Thunderbolt customers, hoping word gets back to UAD. I'll send UAD a formal letter when I can.

Here's my frustration: I have an Apollo quad and Satellite quad over tbolt...yet, the mem/pgm/dsp limit per console channel only allows me to run one instance of the Unison 1073 with very few other plugs in the signal chain (i.e., the fatso), regardless of sample rate...I'm only using about 15% of total DSP with the Unison 1073 at 96 kHz, so what gives with the seemingly arbitrary dsp limit per console channel? Why do I have all of this horsepower when their proprietary software ultimately restricts how/where/when I can put it to use? Grrr...
P.S. This idiosyncrancy remains unchanged in C2 from C1.

Kcat, yes it really does suck, big time. A real honest value is possible, and the financial discrepancy is shutting you out. If you could get the Abbey's for around what I spent, it would be a wash after selling the Adams and one or two other things.
There's been quite a bit of unhappy chatter regarding the high cost of the T-bolt card when compared with a new Twin, it surprises me that UAD hasn't responded at all.
