I am guessing thats the day rate at Blackbird We have 9 rooms at Blackbird. The day rates vary from room to room and booking to booking and are very flexible. Please, don't think just because we are Blackbird that the studio or rental rates are unreachable. We have everyone booking rooms and gear rentals and the rates are very negotiable and always have been. It's very difficult though when customers approach us for what we offer in servie and gear but think it's not going to come at a price. Give us a call, we'll be thrilled to discuss your next project and the very real possibilities of working together. We do it every day and send out rental gear all over town and the continental USA. Blackbird Studio Manager - Scott Phillips - 615 467 4487 Blackbird Audio Rentals - 615 279 7368 Looking forward to hearing from you! -Rolff

rolffz can tell us for sure, but I think the assistant eng told me 3-4 670's and 6-8 660's? That's pretty close John, as of today. We have a 'few' parts boxes and a slew of spare parts. None are for sale. We're always in the market for more if they are worthy in terms of condition or parts and asking price of course. On that note, we do get a lot of calls from folks who have "a very rare piece" thinking we'll pay their asking price. As it often turns out, it's either not as rare as they might think; it's not what or worth what they think it is; or we already have 3. I know it sounds cynical and snotty, but we are not always in the market to buy anything and everything, or pay exactly what you were told or think it is worth if we do make a counter offer, so please do not be offended and give us a rough time if we politely say, "No thanks, we are not interested." Rock on! I think that goes for most used gear. I often laugh when people say how much their used gear is worth...No, it's only worth how much you can get for it on the day you're selling it.

This has been on facebook lately with people bashing him left and right about his collection, calling him greedy and everything in between. They have called him everything but what he really is. A hard working and smart businessman who has his act together and is on top because of it. He has bent over backwards for a lot of people I have recorded with and I for one appreciate having his rental shop just a half mile away to try gear and see what I fall in love with at a reasonable rental price. R Thanks for that Randy! Always great to speak with you when you stop in. You're a wealth of info for us since you are also in the trenches every day and see stuff I completely miss, many times over. Some of the gear you've turned us on to over the years have become mainstays in the rental inventory and in turn it makes it into the studios and we end up buying some or the very least turning on other people to new products. Another reason why we get demo gear from manufacturers to pass around and share in the community creating goodwill as well as getting those products into the hands of real everyday users. We love to hear from folks working everyday and since we are sometimes so deep into what we do (no that doesn't mean our heads are up our asses , we do not always have the time to look around at what others are doing. Believe me, it can get pretty crazy over here. Really liking the vibe here at RGO. Thanks everyone for keeping it real! -Rolff

Everyone of there plays a part to making such a awesome place They are the ones that make the music happen for our future About a year ago my best freind, who had tagged along with his wife on buisness in Nashville calls me as he's looking for some way to spend a couple of hours. He had been looking at moving on from his Korby Kat4. I told him to give Blackbird a call see if he could book a couple of hours with The classics and learn what the real deal was and what worked with his voice. He was a bit skeptical and a bit intimidated but he did it and it was one of the top moments of his life. The staff made him feel right at home and like he had locked out a month.

It an amazing facility. It is fun to see John ask someone what their fantasy guitar would be on the track they are beginning to record and see him return with it and put it in their hands moments later. That can't be bought. R Reading through this thread; for me, a tour of Blackbird would be a highlight of any visit to Nashville. This, and a visit to the World Famous Slack Key Studio, of course.

Places and people matter. Some of the greatest records of all time wouldn't be the same if any of the personnel involved were different. Who knows, maybe the intern bringing some tea to the Beatles made their day, and out came The Long and Winding Road. It's good to hear about Blackbird. I'll put it high up on my to do list next time I'm in the Music City.

Well, I've never recorded with Playboy bunnies around, but when I did The Demons album for Mercury, we were recording at Plaza Sound. It was on the top floor of Radio City Music Hall. The next door over, which was always open by the way, was the Rockets dressing room. Think that was fun?
