In all reality though, I wonder how much he really is driving up the prices. If a decent one comes up on eBay, is he putting in a bid of $30k and it keeps getting bid up until he wins or gets outbid? There can't be that big of a market for mics with that high of a tag, so if there were 20 more in the wild, would that bring the price down because his high bids weren't in on them or would it just be someone else with the bucks driving them up? Anyway, just thinking out loud. Honestly I doubt John Mcbride has effective the price on the open market that much. every Dealer and repair guy has Johns number and makes the call to John first if they think he might be interested. Also John has time money and resources to buy the fixer uppers most of us wouldn't touch. |

No - MJB suggested that we do an RGO session at Blackbird...I replied "Anybody got $2K?" I was saying that was the cost of booking Blackbird...Then I thought Kcat was asking how much the mic was - and I responded with the $1850. Page 5 is confusing.

Ya I was only asking about price of sinsay 251 mod . ...as I understand, if you send Shannon a fully assembled/working Matachung C12/251 (mic & PSU) complete with an edge-terminated capsule (as Chunger offers), the cost of the 251-voicing mod will be in the $500-600 range...if no capsule is provided, the cost will be closer to $700-800...I believe these are estimated costs, directly relevant to each individual mic/PSU sent... |

None are for sale. We're always in the market for more if they are worthy in terms of condition or parts and asking price of course. On that note, we do get a lot of calls from folks who have "a very rare piece" thinking we'll pay their asking price. As it often turns out, it's either not as rare as they might think; it's not what or worth what they think it is; or we already have 3. I know it sounds cynical and snotty, but we are not always in the market to buy anything and everything, or pay exactly what you were told or think it is worth if we do make a counter offer, so please do not be offended and give us a rough time if we politely say, "No thanks, we are not interested." Rock on! |
