I enjoyed getting some deets on the new product but those comments are embedded in the WA76 thread.
if you agree could you pull them and or copy them here?
So we can have 2 clear threads ?
Thx!

Hey all. I'm really pumped to see the excitement for the new product, thanks for all the support. I received more help on this new product than I've received on any other. It was no easy feat to maintain the layout/design of the original unit without compromising sonic integrity, but I knew something could be done to bring the price down because they are somewhat simple (in theory). I had a seasoned electrical (pro audio) engineer spend about 2 weeks with the unit after it was completed (as well as a bit of time before-hand with the schematic) to offer some engineering insight. The original transformers in the classic design are expensive for 2 reasons, 1. they are huge and use a lot of alloy. 2 - if you buy originals they are very rare so they are expensive simply because they are rare. The CineMag's in this new unit are larger than the transformers in my other units, but not "massive" per se. The input transformer has to be of decent size to not distort when a loud input signal hit it, and to not lose low end. The output transformer has a tertiary winding that that receive 250v from the power supply and adds to the character. The original had this as well. Oh yea, and the inductor is made by CineMag too ) David Geren at CineMag has as much to do with the success of with Warm Audio as anything else since he is so aggressively pricing his components to meet the demand. He also sees the big picture that selling more units is a great thing. The reason for using Tung Sol tubes instead of chinese is 1. they sound much better of course... but also in large quantities the tubes weren't that much more expensive. A lot of botique brands use chinese tubes with the belief that buyers will fit the unit with their own choice. I knew many WA users are not super technical and want the unit to sound "A grade" out of the box, so I decided to keep things as simple as possible and fit them with Tung Sol. Slightly cheaper Russian tubes like Electro Harmonix aren't bad but in quantity were barely cheaper than the super nice Tung Sol's. I'm holding off until I have a nice photo of the unit to make an official announcement. Hopefully it will be soon. The prototype faceplate is the wrong color and has that "worked-on" beat up look so am waiting for a new faceplate to be made. Hope to have it shortly. PS - I added some "___ points" to the controls... still have all the original... but a few extra, some in the sexy low mid area. Damnit...I need more money.

All good JK, just meant having a seperate thread: ya did good ! I can't wait to hear these. I understand Bryce has been trying ti get the best sonics and still hit a reasonable price point. I am very pleased with my TB12 and WA76 products and I feel the new Warm EQ is going to be the best yet. We are lucky to have so many great products available: seems like everytime I try to cut back i'm screwed guess I need a raise for xmas !

So just wondering how big will the first batch be and the possible eta on these? Actually have these passed the final design revisions? That might give me more time to save for some. Is there a list of Beta testers that we can sign up to ?

Bryce, you can count me in for two of these also. I've been getting good results with the two WA76s I received last month. They are actually very effective on acoustic guitars, if you lightly touch them.

I've been waiting a long time for Warm to release an eq, since I refuse to track anything without passing it through the Warm 76 these days - a Warm Audio Eq? I am so, so, SO in.

Oh boy, just got here. I'm Warming up to the idea of an even Warmer home studio now.. I've been so lucky to have the Tone Beast and WA76 to track with. I'm doing a little video of the WA76 in action soon.
I've loved what I've heard when a Neve 1073 pramp is used with their EQ. I know this is a different animal,, but how would my results compare printing vocals with the TB12 > WA-Tec EQ ?
I've begun to use less and less EQ when mixing. I'd guess 90% or more of my new tracks have no EQ at all, and when I do use EQ it's mostly subtractive or HPF or just the plug itself. I like just putting the Waves API EQ on tracks with no change in EQ at all.
So printing with an EQ seems like a good idea, get it right the first time, then leave it alone?

I have the hardest time tracking acoustic with any compressor so I usually don't. I love my WA76 on everything else I put through it.

I don't even think about it, everything gets a pinch of WA76 when I'm tracking. Sometimes I do a few takes and record both with and without the WA76, keep the best track w/ WA76, then pick the second best track without, pan hard left & right, it gives me some tonal differentiation and man, it's really quick this way.

You mean this will sound better than my UAD Pultec plug in? Dang, why'd I go spend all that money on that $hit ;-)

I have the hardest time tracking acoustic with any compressor so I usually don't. I love my WA76 on everything else I put through it. First, nominal gain out of the preamp so it hits around -18dBfs on average, then the WA76 Input on about 9 o'clock, output on about 2 o'clock, 4:! ratio (sometimes 8:1 with a more aggressive dynamic player), attack at about 1 o'clock and release at noon.

Why do you not have I/O at unity ? Curious not critical !

You can use unity with the pad engaged, but the unit has a very hot input stage. I rather prefer the sound without the pad engaged and the input gain just lowered.
