Thin edge of the wedge, changing their policies but not stating that clearly, limiting what you get, when, for free, introducing new charges: yup, UA’s crushing it.
I bought signature bundle only because of its low price, may never buy another UA plug and have been considering selling my account and just walking away. You can’t sell uadX plugs, but you can give someone access to your account. People in a common business can also share plugs, but one is the master owner.

Well I love both the Helios and Vari-Mu plugins and use them regularly. I really dig the Vari-Mu on mid/side settings for drum bus. I have tracked whole sessions with the Helios in the Unison slot. It's great for getting a synth to stand out. The change in how they make current UAD2 owners jump through a couponed transaction seems weird to me. It's like they are setting us up for more microtransactions in the future. All the people who have been buying the larger bundles recently are going to have to really watch for things once they start converting more products to native. all of these 30 dollar plugs are microtransactions. PA tried to get me to just spend 20 when they gave me a 10 dollar coupon. They won't just give me a license of the 10 dollar plug I want that's normally about 30. It's not a sale at all because I need to buy another 10 dollar plug I don't want.

Oh yes, they will probably pull a Waves on us. I don’t really need their plugins anyway.

UA Connect is an unstable piece of shit spyware. Tried to phone home constantly, is buggy as hell, logs horribly, crashed Reaper and Windows. Fucked my keyboard trying to contact my Ilok. Piece of shit. I hope they go out of business and some private equity firm sells the plugs for cheaper than Waves without any stupid Waves Central or UA Connect installer.
The plugs weren't that great either. They were bad to good. LA3A and dbx 160 were pretty bad. The dbx 160 is worse than Waves. The API Vision strip and Distressor GUIs are awful to use.

You can put your uadX authorizations on your computer and not deal with the cloud, but ya, lots of questions about UA connect

In fairness, the LA3A and 160 are both MKI plugins. They're some of UA's oldest plugins, so I don't really look at those plugins if I'm seeking out the latest in modeling capabilities from UA. Yeah, the API Vision has a LOT going on, but so does the real console. In any case, I have a hardware controller set to control all of that, so I don't really need to look at the Vision GUI anyway. UAConnect.... Yeah, I have all kinds of mixed feelings about that thing.

I agree with Quint, the API has a lot going on, but so does the real console, and really any channel strip/multi function type plugin. I find the Distressor dead simple. I love the ratio options just lined up and mouse clickable.

I even did a "put it on all channels" deal to mimic the console and that mix turned out really well. I haven't bought the individual API EQs, I just grab the Vision and then i have the other sections 'if needed.' (or use the Waves for eq only)
