I'm gonna need to go on UA Connect to get the native version. It's a big resource hog on my satellite. It sounds great on a guitars especially. I've got it on acoustic for a mix I sent out yesterday. Don't hurry, you don't get the native version instantly anymore: linkThey don't want to pay the cost of Pace licenses.

Just got both UADx versions added without waiting for an e-mail link.

yeah, that was different. Just got mine "redeemed". I guess that means going forward if you don't claim your "native" version of your UAD-2 plugin right away (30 days) you would have to pay for it later.

I recently got an email saying to grab the Manley Vari-Mu for free. It’s the native version. I opened up connect and it asked me where my UA interface was? Yeah, not sure why that happened, never had an issue before?

See, I almost pulled the trigger on the 10 for 299 the other day, but why is UA so confusing now? I have the connect thing, but native doesn’t come with the regular versions? Only some? Email codes and vouchers. It’s annoying. Plus I only really want 5 or so of those 10.

Uad2, is what we have always bought. For these, you need UA dsp (apollo, satelites, pci-e card) with sharc chips.
You need to have UA hardware in your system to buy uad2 plugs. You do not need UA hardware to buy uadX, as they only run natively .
UADX is the version of the same plugs but runs natively, they were released initially in the subscription plan and later for sale stand alone, not in the sub plan, so you get a perpetual license, like uad2. For uadx, you do not need UA hardware/sharc chips, but you do have to use UA connect, to get your authorizations/licenses. You can store these on the cloud, ilok dongle or on your computer.
If you own or buy a uad2 plug, you get the uadX included. If you buy a uadX plug , you do not get the uad2 version.
Uad2 plugs can be sold, uadX can’t be sold.
If you want both uad2 and uadX, buy the uad2 version.

[...] UADX is the version of the same plugs but runs natively I have a suggestion for UA. Release a new lineup of plugins called UADX2 and really watch the confusion unfold. As someone still on the sidelines, this all sounds like so much trouble for a user only looking to grab a few plugins. I claimed the free la2a from x months ago and still haven't done anything with it.

It’s simple.
If you have UA hardware buy uad2 and get the uadX version too, so you can run a hybrid system to maximize your processing, uad2 on UA hardware , uadX on your computer. If you don’t have UA hardware, you can only buy uadX as it only runs natively.

Confusing as hell! I have some UAD X working on my system without the hardware, but just today I recently went to install the Manley Vari-MU UADX version and it won’t install because I don’t have any UA hardware hooked up, but some of the other UADX plugs work but this one won’t install?!!! I really have almost given up on UA by now unfortunately

All uadX should run on your computer, and I agree you shouldn’t be getting pop ups about hardware, unless you someone bought the uad2 version.
Are you running any UA hardware or is any registered in your UA system? When you try to instantiate the plug in your daw , are you accessing the uad2 or the uadX folder?

Little confused here. Will UAD native plugs use the sharc cards at all? I understand the sharc card (I have the Octo) is not needed. But if you have the card, the native will not use it? Assume this answer is no - are there UA plugs that are both native and non-native?

Don’t know, but two different processes if you own uad2 or not ? So is there now a deadline for me to get UADx versions of the UAD-2 licences I own? I haven’t bothered getting them thus far as I subscribe to UAD Spark. But I don’t want to miss out in case I stop my Spark subscription. Thanks

Assume this answer is no - are there UA plugs that are both native and non-native? Yes, no they cannot use it and are coded differently, essentially uadX is like regular native non sharc coded plug ins. uAD2 is for sharc, uadX is native non sharc run on all other chips.

I have an Apollo, but I don’t use it as much anymore. I have a lot of the UAD plugins, however everything I have is UAD. I downloaded it and installed it. I will try and use it in my Protools/Carbon setup later today. I’m not interested in paying again, not even a penny, to use plugins that I already paid for on the UAD platform before UADX. I’m interested in hearing it against the Vari-MU hardware unit I have. I’m curious what version Vari-MU they modeled this plugin from?

Probably referenced in the plug notes.
Might as well get it, so in your daw you will have a uad2 folder and a uadX folder, the different forms of the same plug are stored in their respective folders.
UA vari mu was one of my favs.

Manley loaned them hardware for the various plugins models, but I don't think they have ever mentioned a version. It was probably the most recent version at that time.

Well I love both the Helios and Vari-Mu plugins and use them regularly. I really dig the Vari-Mu on mid/side settings for drum bus. I have tracked whole sessions with the Helios in the Unison slot. It's great for getting a synth to stand out.
The change in how they make current UAD2 owners jump through a couponed transaction seems weird to me. It's like they are setting us up for more microtransactions in the future.
All the people who have been buying the larger bundles recently are going to have to really watch for things once they start converting more products to native.
