It’s better than McDSP’s Analog Channel or the URS stuff we were all using at the time. I still use VCC on occasion for some subtle color on a bus or something. The only thing that hasn’t aged well is the volume jump inherent in so much Slate stuff. Luckily, VMR has the trim module. Wasn't the analog channel compressors pretending to be an input channel and tape? The tape one wasn't bad but has distortion near DC and could intermodulate the bass. it sounds pretty fat. You couldn't really drive them hot. The Variety of Sound stuff was even better than the Slate VCC. That was Windows only and only made the jump to 64-bit this year. Then U-he Satin came out and nothing really better has come out. ChowTape and TAIP are pretty gross and sound broken. The IK is ick. Yeah Analog Channel was something resembling channel drive and tape. Neither hold up very well last time I checked, but they were some of the first digital processors that could eat up excessive transients or add a little hair to drum tracks. There was also the terrible sans amp plugin that came with Pro Tools that only Tchad Blake could make sound good. Massey Tapehead was the first one I remember being excited about. Now we’re swimming in saturators. No wonder there are all these anti-harshness plugins getting sold right now!

I truly still use Soundtoys all over my mixes.
I dunno. They just work. I have a thought dirt plug-ins but I always come back to decapitator. And I love echoboy and microshift. Curious what has replaced their stuff for folks? Especially for delay and widening.
Also still rocking sonarworks 4

But their shit is still super useful.

PSP Hertzrider for doubles because I love those Polish plugs and I got it on sale. They have a sound for sure. I can't bring myself to buy the Sonnox Vox Doubler which is very natural because I don't really do vocal music.

In fairness, it's a Sony TC260 model right? So not supposed to sound big like a Studer or something. I dig it.

Otherwise there is absolutely no reason to model that deck! It’s a small step above a cassette deck! Ok I’ll admit it last week I almost paid $50 for a cute little old Tandberg R to R . The chassis looked like an old lunchbox, really cute. So my wife pulls out her phone and shows me a picture of a shelf in our storage unit with the 3 Ampex, Revox and Akai tape machines. All I could think of was oh she still doesn’t know about the Otari😎
