Continuing to share the joy for this thing.. Just ordered a pair and excited like a kid. Have had the RS124 on bass (after Purple MC77) since 2016, but thinking about selling it for yet another RS660. Yes, it's that good! I ended up getting a second one as well. Shipped my first one back and they matched them up. Can't wait to put them to use together (currently building a new studio setup).

Are you guys going for stereo pairs using it on mixbus? Drum groups? Vocals and bass? Kazoo and cowbell?
These do look classier in person than in some pics I've seen. The color and texture look especially nice in dim light.

Sometimes you just have to say What The F$ck. I just ordered a matched pair. My credit card had zero balance on it, and that's not acceptable. I have this strange feeling that I'm going to end up with everything they make!

I'm using the one I've got for lead vocals and lead instruments all the time and it's just fantastic. I'm probably going to get a fourth unit eventually

RS660s in the house; let the honeymoon begin! May it be long and fruitful.
I hope everyone is having a Rocktastic Friday night! I may end up pulling an all-nighter . . .

Matt, belated welcome to the forum! I've got them strapped across my 2-bus in parallel and- wow! They are everything I expected and more. They add body, punch, and tighten up the low end while gently sweetening the top by taming the often brash cymbal work of my musical partner in crime, who happens to be a very bombastic drummer. I can only imagine how they will treat distorted guitar. I'll find out shortly. They will live on the 2-bus when mixing but will most definitely be used on individual tracks while recording.
I'm in love!

Reviving an oldie but a goodie… matt , spock or anyone else who’s experimented with a pair of these. Do you think treating a vocal run in serial through two of these (on different settings) could accomplish the same task (not sound) of running an 1176 into a 2A? I.e. I know it’s nowhere near as fast release as an 1176, but fast enough just to grab the peaks and settle down (on the first one in the chain)?

You could put one in limit and faster time constant, and set the other in comp mode doing very little.

In a characteristically altruistic gesture on my part, I formally offer to rescue and re-home any unwanted RS660s.

There’s plenty of payment plans out there. You too can save one of these poor compressors for a few dollars a day… 😂
