What a great example of how a good compressor both focusses the sound and brings up its entire effect, the room ambiance.
That’s an impressive unit !

Just adding some isolated sounds here; I like Rhodes.

For anyone interested in the differences between the RS124 & RS660:

For anyone interested in the differences between the RS124 & RS660: I really like the singers voice. I prefered the RS660 on this singer - it was mellower is good way. I find the RS124 has an upper mid push I don’t find appealing on vocals. I have a Retro STA Level and Phoenix MP so I’m good for vari mu’s at the moment. If I didn’t own any, I think the RS-660 would be at the top of my demo list, it has a beautiful tone and envelope, very impressive. Great video!

seawell Hey Josh, whole video is great but really love the guitar sound you got originally. Either Chandler unit makes it sound that much better, but digging the sound.

That was a Divided by 13 FTR37, such a great studio amp! Divided by 13 2 X 12 open back cab, AEA R92 on the Blue Alnico and Sennheiser E609 on the Greenback, blended to taste, going through Shadow Hills preamps.

Someone asked specifically to hear the THD mode on a vocal so here's one last RS660 video from me:

I was starting to think I’m the only person who loves the AEA R92 on a guitar cab. I’m using it mostly into their RPQ 500 pre. Personally, I’ve yet to find a mic I prefer on guitar cab I always pair it would a good old trust 57 into 1073. I’m not familiar with the E609 - I see them live a fair bit. I really must got hold of one and try it as an alternative to the 57. Do you run the pair at a capsule phase matched distance? Thanks

Then, I dial in the alignment of the E609(picked up this tip from Michael Wagener) by running pink noise through the amp and flipping the polarity of one of the mics. Get some good, isolating headphones and move the e609 around until you get the most cancellation, then flip the polarity back and voila! Usually pretty close to the speakers because the R92 can handle it! I actually don’t like the E609 much on its own, it’s a bit bright…but…blended with the R92 it’s a great combo 👍🏻. Also, the shadow hills preamps tame the transients on a guitar amp in such a perfect way, I highly recommend them!
