New UAD v10 Released! === UAD Software Version 10.0.0 — March 30, 2022 Changes in this release • Support for UADx plug-ins • Support for macOS 12 Monterey and Windows 11 • UAD-2 plug-ins are grouped by category in VST DAWs • Native Apple Silicon support for UAD-2 DSP plug-ins and Apollo Console • Flex Routes are increased from eight to 16 with Apollo X Series rack models • New Mix control for Teletronix LA-2A Collection • (Mac) High resolution Retina display graphics for Teletronix LA-2A Collection === The most exciting thing about this announcement for me isn't Spark but is the official Monterey and Apple Silicon support. With Pro Tools announcing official support last week, I can finally start using the M1 MBP as my main music computer. I'm glad they are giving the native versions for free to those of us who own the DSP version. There might have been an uprising if they hadn't. I'll need to do some experimenting but I can probably sell my Octo Satellite now. I have 10 sharc chips in my two interfaces alone, and with my new super powerful MBP and the native UADx plugins, 10 will probably be plenty.

Delays in Native (UADx) Licenses for Owners of UAD-2 Plug-Ins
If you already own a UAD-2 plug-in or UAD Instrument that has been ported to UADx, then you can get the UADx native version for free.
Please note that due to the high volume of UADx plug-ins that are being issued to UAD customers, it may take up to four days for the licenses to be fully deposited to your account. We expect that this process will be completed by April 4th.
Once the licenses are deposited, follow these instructions to use your UADx plug-ins:
Download and install the latest UAD Software including UA Connect Open UA Connect and login to your uaudio.com account Allow UA Connect to create a new iLok account or link your existing iLok account Redeem your UADx plug-ins in UA Connect Download and install your UADx plug-ins For detailed instructions please see this article.

Well, damnit. Their new B3 might be even better than the IK one.

Do I need to download the UADx plugs? Or were they in the update? Just have to wait until they populate in UA Connect?

They are in the update, but you need to get the license through the ilok server. UA says could take 4 days.

So I managed to download the Studer, but none of the others show up for me yet.
And no charge in my iLok account. Go figure why the one worked.
The UADx version of the Studer looks graphically flatter, somewhat less detailed, but is much easier to read. I welcome this change. Controls and sound are the same.
Separate folder for UADx.

It’s definitely a generational instrument, so I can see why they wouldn’t make a big deal about it. Although I’d love to hear more cool organ sounds on soundcloud trap beats. Lol I REALLY want that rotary speaker to be its own standalone effect. It sounds great.

(While doing beta on this) I have been using a mixture of Octo Satellite and the new UADx native versions, and I really don't think this lowers the value of any of my UAD hardware, if anything it makes the hardware more useful. I've been using the native for things in frequent use with a lower dsp load (comps, eqs, strips) and then using the UAD2 hardware for the heavy, DSP-hog plugs (CultureVulture, AMS RMX/DMX, Capitol Chambers, Lexicon 480, Manley, etc). I really like having the option to balance the DSP load however I want -- which will only improve as they add more stuff to the UADx line, make it M1 ready, and I get a sweet new Mac. Fingers crossed for more of the bread and butter stuff like the standalone pres and eqs to come along soon. I also think using the UA Rack interfaces with Flex Routing are a great way to make your Apollo a parallel fx unit. With some of the dsp stress being passed to the computer, this becomes a more enticing setup for hybrid rats like myself. Ah, I didn’t realize they’re not Apple Silicon ready. I mean, I’m sure they work fine under Rosetta, but seems like the release of this Spark thing would’ve been a good time for the plugs to be fully ready, especially as it’s Apple-only at the moment. Hey Mark while Zi agree this kind of cuts both ways, Apple has a long history of not prioritizing audio plugins when it comes to issuing development kits. No matter when you release something like this you’re at the very least chasing OS realeses. Here it just times out with a major compatibility shift.

I've now got all the ones I own with UAD-2 in UADx. Native seems to be working great with Logic. I don't own the 224, Pure Plate, or instruments, so no comment on those.
But these choices would be fine for doing most of a mix. I already used 1073 and API Vision a ton. I think the Galaxy can be a bit too grimy for some content.

Some things you do in life are completely meaningless. This is one of them! But had to test how many API Channelstrip Native I could run at one time. Luna managed around 152 native instances and I had all functions pressed in the channel strip, Gate, Comp, Eq, Hi / Lo pass, Dyn SC etc. Then I tested how many DSPs I could run. I have 3 Apollo X, so it will be 6X3 = 18DSP chip. There were 54 instances. It's on my MBP the last one that did with intel. 2.4 GHz 8-Core i9 Exciting times with UA. Hope they integrate all the native plugins as they have done with API channelstrip. So you do not need to copy the settings from the plugs when swiping between dsp and native. Nice weekend

So far, 4 X plug ins have loaded here: apparently no actual logic to this. If UA knew it was going to be 4-5 days, wonder why it didn’t cascade through clients alphabetically or randomly selected .
Not a big deal: just tedious and disappointing: dum de dum de dum,cue sound of fingers drumming .

I' REALLY want that rotary speaker to be its own standalone effect. It sounds great. Just tried it on demo yesterday and that was the first thing I thought too …. I wonder if you could pipe a guitar signal to the rotary part :-) Might be something to feed back to the lab @drewatua ?

I got the Instruments pretty much straight away … some plugings flashed and disappeared … will try again later. It was cool to be able to have the miniMoog over in Logic. Makes the pricing of the instruments more tolerable I think. Overall I am very happy with this move (giving us the native version for free) and my Apollos don’t feel threatened at all … or the haven’t said anything anyway … they are just sitting quietly in the rack working away :-D
EDIT: The plugins I have from the list have now appeared but with a "Start Demo" button not an "Install" button. I will hold off as I hate the way iLOK keeps Demo licenses there forever and lately Logic alerts me for each Demo license and I get a couple of prompts about some old demo from years each time I start Logic... very annoying.

Nice weekend I kind of figured at some point we had passed the point where their DSP was outpaced by native CPU's. It was inevitable. Nice to know Native works so well. I still like the DSP on my Apollo for tracking sessions. But this will be great. I had a few recent 96k sessions where I ran out of DSP pretty early on. I'll be able to keep adding plugs now, woo hoo!

Agreed, the true hybrid processing and being able to choose computer vs UA is a significant new benefit.

I'm digging it. Tracking with DSP, naturally. I have a session tomorrow and I don't want to experiment with tracking native. Console works great for me. But I'd imagine I could use live lock and do one or two channels just fine.
For mixes I'm trying tape, dynamics, preamps, and channel strips in native.
Leaving the reverbs, delay, and modulation for DSP.
I did have a stop error where my buffer size was set at 128. Bumped it to 512 after using some Studer.
The UAD v10 update is working so much better than the last version. Logic opens very quickly now.
Early days but I'm pleased they are available.

Just getting my head together on this - it means i don't have to cart a piece of UAD hardware when recording remotely - I like! Cheers, Ross
