The Susan Lucci mic filter was actually the product! Sound award winning without the awards.
The beans are spilled.

If any audio product is half as stunning as Susan, back in her heyday... I'm already a fan. Chris

I have no idea if it's all complete horse shit, but there seems to be some cryptic posts about UAD3 (not UAD2, but UAD3) over on the UA forum.
Hmmm... Perhaps tomorrow's announcement could end up being really interesting.

Based on all of the other chatter over there on the UA forum, it's starting to look and smell like this might be some combination of cloud based subscription and native processing, all under a new UAD3 umbrella, likely with some kind of hybrid engine similar to what Avid did. This honestly wouldn't surprise me either. And I'd probably be for it. Maybe... But not if, in one fell swoop, it completely devalues the investment I've made in UA hardware and plugins. We'll see.

A subscription plan and they run natively, great to undermine people running satellites etc..
When UA floated the sub on an idea about 5 year’s ago in its survey. I thought, oh oh it will just further undermine resale value so I bailed and sold all my UA stuff.

The part that worried me, seems to be ok:
"I already own some of the UAD plug‑ins available in this subscription. Do I get access to the native version?
Yes. You get the native version of the plug-in for free. Download UA Connect to get started."
Although I'm still not clear on who pays how much, etc.

Although I'm still not clear on who pays how much, etc. I was just reading that and scratching my head, wondering the same thing. If I understand it correctly this will be great for me. I just bought a Mac Studio and was waiting to find a deal on a used UAD satellite to replace my pcie card. But if I can now run my plugins natively that will save me a lot of money. I’m hoping that i understand the concept correctly, their webpage was a little vague.

I'm hoping this is the same as Plugin Alliance.
Suscription lets you use all plugins for the duration of your subscription period.
Owning the the plugin lets you use only that plugin to infinity.
But who knows DREW WHERE ARE YOU, LUNCH BREAK IS OVER! lol

If this turns out to be true, then hey, the weather's nice, hell just froze over, I'm glad I own barely any UAD hardware, and I need to build a new computer.

@tbone. What’s not clear yet, is if only a subset of UA plugs or all run natively.
Pity those who just dropped a grand or more buying an octo.
Also, those trying to sell an octo, seriously , what would it be worth now ?

Also, those trying to sell an octo, seriously , what would it be worth now ? I consider it the same as buying a new computer. At any moment the tech can change and you’ve got what you’ve got. Run it until it breaks. Not like there is anything wrong with having a sat octo right now.

Would I be given a discount on sub if I already own 40+ plugs? You’d think they would for loyal customers.

Would I be given a discount on sub if I already own 40+ plugs? You’d think they would for loyal customers. See this page for Subscription FAQ, John: UAD Spark Account and Subscription FAQs
Looks like you would get perpetual licenses for the Native version of all the UAD DSP-based plugins you own. But no discount to the subscription.

So, just to make sure I've got this right: It looks like it's a subscription program, paid either monthly or yearly, for Native versions of the UAD plugins. They call the Native versions "UADx." You cannot purchase any UADx plugins outright, only rent them via subscription. However, if you own a UAD(+DSP) plugin that you currently use with a Satellite, Apollo, etc., you will have a perpetual license to the UADx version of that plugin - no subscription necessary.
So the only way to buy and own any of these Native UADx plugins (at least currently) is to buy a Satellite, Apollo, etc. and then buy the DSP version of that plugin.
And the system uses iLok for copy protection.
Assuming I've got that correct, it's not too bad overall, though of course as a non-owner of the UAD+DSP platform who hates subscriptions, I would prefer an option to buy UADx versions of plugins outright. Might not be a bad time to be on the lookout for used Satellites, especially if people are including plugins in the sale.
