I'm no longer into the "gain stage". In fact, I've lost another 5 pounds lately. Despite sometimes being hungry like the wolf. That's great news Dr. Bill. The mighty U47 is coming back! No longer just FET up with things. Chris chessparovAKA “The Thread Killer” 😂 (Jk) I just noticed that on the purple site as well as this site, both M49V threads have halted progress with the last word posted a few days ago by our friend Chessparov. 🤣

Posts have slowed as the speculation is over, credible high praise was posted, the release has occurred, over 200 initial orders were revealed AND it is very likely the tube was accurately identified based on the pictures. “The tube pictured is 6s6b soviet miniature tube.”
Next events that will generate widespread interest should be official tube confirmation, samples, and the report from Klaus.
As with the 67 Reissue, I am not in a hurry, I can cover 49 ground with my other mics. As I did enjoy many things about my Flea 49, I would like to buy a 49 Reissue (the price is fair for me) in a few years after the initial demand is fulfilled.

If it is the 6s6b, is that the same tube used in the Flea 49 (unless someone orders a special ac701 for flea)?

“The tube pictured is 6s6b soviet miniature tube.” Is this confirmed? Can anyone give more info on this tube & what mics it's been used in? I was sure it'd be Russian as they're the only ones left in the world, I believe, that make the best valves. Sony only uses the 6au6a normal size tubes in their mics & only recommends their Russian made ones that are screened for microphone quality.

Russian Lomo mics used that tube. I have a Lomo 19a9 which I believe uses that tube…if these statements about the tube are true, I’m glad I got a spare for it before it became popular.

FleA uses the 6S6B-V tube. I have one in each of mine. As you all know, I think my FleA’s sound incredible. In the group DIY forum post above someone mentions that the 6S6B-V and 5703 are equivalents. I had the 5703 in my RMS269 and that tube had some real mojo.

We have not had confirmation, this is the current status: On another site, a poster, Ilya Lukashev, viewed the high def Neumann images audiomediainternational.com/neumann-m-49-v-reissue-details-revealed/and posted: “The tube pictured is 6s6b soviet miniature tube.” Another poster reviewed the picture and agreed. This was several days ago on what had been an active thread. Other than viewing pictures of the mic and tube, compared with 6s6b, we have nothing further until Neumann or Klaus confirm. Circumstantial information includes the potential that Neumann may have merely wanted to avoid a rush to judgement of the inexpensive tube until customers could hear the mic for themselves, without bias. Or it could be simple economics, if you are going to purchase a fair amount of a commodity with a limited supply, best to keep your mouth shut before some speculator starts buying up the supply to drive up the price.
