Would have been nice to have a little more specs, and a little less marketing....

Think the VAT fees you pay when buying in Europe would negate any discounted pricing..

I never checked specs on the original. the equivalent noise seems pretty high for a LDC, but what do I know?

Vintage King now has it up with some interesting tidbits, along with new photos, including some cool close ups: vintageking.com/blog/2022/07/neumann-revives-the-legendary-m-49/Maybe the most significant part is detail on the variants. From VK: "At this point, you may be wondering, "What does the V stand for?" Microphone historians will know that there were actually three versions of the iconic M 49 and the new M 49 V (short for variable) captures the unique sound qualities of them all. The stock version of the new M 49 V is tuned to sound identical to the original M 49 A. However, the mic can be switched internally to a second circuit which extends the bass sensitivity and drops the high-pass frequency to an incredible 12 Hz just like the M 49 B. Additionally, a third circuit offers a fixed cardioid-only variant, which increases the sensitivity by 2 dB and reduces the equivalent noise level by 3 dB—just like the M 49 C."

Another important note:
“It's important to note that these variants are built to order, meaning the techs at Neumann will configure your mic to the A, B or C variants before shipping. For more information, contact your Vintage King Audio Consultant.”
So these are literally be built per order.

The user can open the mic and move the switch to replicate any of the original M49 versions A,B or C: “However, the mic can be switched internally to a second circuit which extends the bass sensitivity and drops the high-pass frequency to an incredible 12 Hz just like the M 49 B. Maybe some people aren’t willing to crack open an expensive mic, but I would totally get in there and make changes if it were simply dip switches or something similar.

So if I'm understanding this you can switch between A&B and cardioid only C with an internal switch, but Neumann will send it to you already in the variation of your choosing.

It reads like it is user accessible. Pulled that from the VK piece. Wish an owners manual was available. Will see when I receive mine.
Since the “V” stands for variable it would make no sense for it not to be user accessible. Yes that statement opens another can of worms.
