What sort of fuckery makes me really, really want to buy a Deluxe Reverb when I already have a Princeton Reverb and a Vibro Champ? There is no real musical purpose for this lust is there? I ask honestly, what's the difference between a Deluxe and Princeton? Since almost everyone is using the tremolo/reverb inputs on the Deluxe , 10 or so watts of power in the Deluxe is the main difference. Most Princetons only have a 10 inch speaker while the Deluxe has a 12. My Princeton is a limited addition that does have a 12. Deluxe’s cabinet is a little bigger. People will sorta say that the Deluxe is a more “rock/blues” amp while the Princeton is more “country” but other than the Deluxe having more power output tubes, they are both using identical tubes. I bet I couldn’t blind test them and pick. This is just one of those “things” that can get in your head where you think you need something that you don’t. If I “have” to have another amp, I should get a Vox or a Hiwatt not a Deluxe Reverb.

They definitely sound different Absolutely! I want BOTH now. I have a 65 blackface deluxe, but it was modded by Paul Rivera so although amazing, it's not a "traditional" Deluxe anymore unless you're on the plain Jane channel. I'm not putting it back to stock. Too special as is. But that leaves me needing a blackface deluxe AND a blackface Princeton. LOL. Oh well.....

Bigger, bigger, bigger. I'm personally most 'tracted to the Twin, Super Reverb type of amps, bassman combos, and so on, the "big ones." that's "my sound."
Deluxe is smallbig. Getting there. Princeton and champs are just small.

For anyone "wondering," .....
A princeton has a lower power tube dissipation, and a smallish output transformer.
A Deluxe has higher power tube dissipation, and, a larger output transformer.
This is a significant difference. What's called the "power amp section."
Similar to "reasons" why a Bandmaster is different to a Bassman, and so on. Bla bla bla, but I think it's good to know, if you're a connoisseur of amps.

A good player, a good Strat and a 10" Princeton on a smallish country / folk / rock gig was heaven for me to mix. It felt Right

Totally get the Princeton Deluxe debate. I have a Princeton and a Princeton reverb, and they sound different. I have a Tremolux, yet still want a Bandmaster again...
Latest for me is a Temple Audio Solo 18. Already have a Duo 27, but this would be for extra pedals to build a smaller pedalboard, and to try and not have 9 pedals and 2 controllers on a board...

Ok. Wanting more Beyerdynamic microphones. That's just smart. I wouldn’t say “smart” so much but it sure wouldn’t hurt me. Thinking about the M 160 since all my other ribbons are figure 8.

For no particular reason I've been jonesing for a 441 lately, don't even need one but selling a mic on Tuesday and gear sale cash always seems to be the most flammable of all cash in the pocket.

I only used one on a session in Brooklyn years ago. For no particular reason I've been jonesing for a 441 lately, don't even need one but selling a mic on Tuesday and gear sale cash always seems to be the most flammable of all cash in the pocket. Sell a mic, buy a mic. That seems like a solid plan to me.

Whew, I love me a good 441. And thanks to phdamage , I actually have a good one! (Well, it's actually a 541 Blackfire edition...) I think you'll really dig it, Darren Boling
