But, I think a U47FET is right on that line of not unattainable, holds it value, and there's one at most every tracking studio in Nashville and they are kind of expected Is it really that essential to get that mic for recording bass drum exclusively? Or are other uses for the U47FET that people don't talk about?

I use them on upright bass, bass amps, and occasionally vocals (especially ones with excess sibilance)

Sean is absolutely right, not an absolute must have, but at the price of the Heisermann or UT clones it’s a good utility mike and fantastic kick mic.

There was a pair of Neumann AK43 capsules but luckily they sold before I got too agitated.

I was lusting after the Shaper Origin hand held CNC router for building racks and cabinets, then I found a guy who hires out his gantry CNC and figured out how many jobs I can have done without the mess.

A second GAP Pre73 Premier to use on my stereo synths and possibly as an external, ad hoc color pair on the 2 bus.

If anyone wants some plugins, $50 you have to spend, $100 cart total, so half price whatever, Plugin Alliance, there's a bunch of other brands in there now too, Rule Tec, Acon, whatever
Here's a $50 voucher

I'm less and less in the plugin game, and forum game, but use it if you like.

If "impulse buy" sometimes means saving up as the remedy...
The beautiful sounding Beesneez BU67 I'll be testing again tonight. The flexibility of 67/269 styles is way cool. It's certainly on the menu.
I hope to be able to get a quality tube mic on that level, by the Holidays. Or at least before next Summer.
The Beesneez 49 style is also on my mind as an alternative. But not realistically the Neumann Reissue. Out of my $$ league. Chris

Kept the best line (and looped twice here) of Ricky Nelson's ballad "Teenage Idol", of the practice vocal I just did. Soundelux U195 (FAT on/Low Cut on) into Focusrite Air Mode. It'll help me compare the BU67 better. Although the FAT switch is a "thick" tube hardware emulation, the BU67 is even more "buttery clear" Very nice complement to one another. With the U195 FLAT, even more of a difference. Then the U195 is more assertive than either. Chris

BAE 1073DMP.
One day my head goes, "Get it! You've heard hundreds of shootouts, and it has exactly the sound you're looking for! It'll make your life much easier."
Another day, "no, that's BS, the BAE does sound tremendous, but you have done great work with lowly preamps. Get a cheaper clone. $1.3k for one channel is insane."
Then, "but it's sooooooo smooth. How much processing will you have to do to match that smoothness and darkness? EQ? Compression? Just do it! And you'll be able to carry it easily! Try doing that with a clone in a big 500 series rack!"
And then, "you can DIY a clone! and do you think the difference will even matter after you put the signal through the 1176?"
I don't know what's going to happen. We'll see.

It does have a couple of issues though.. the LED for the 48V is out.. but it works fine....the DI THRU and THRU 2 are noisy ... but the DI itself is fine.....Its interference from the toroidal transformer.. but as a mic preamp/DI its great. You could always sell it if it’s not working out. BAE has a good rep, will be easier to sell than say a DIY or direct from China knockoff. Maybe you lose 300-400 in a quick sale, vs not being able to move a diy item .. And if you keep it long enough, sometimes things increase 🤷♂️
(sorry.. hahahaha)
Actually also see the classified here, Matt has some Stams he’s selling.. great price

Korg was blowing out Opsix FM Synthesizers for $329, normally $750. Couldn't resist. Looks like the most intuitive FM synth Ive seen/heard.

What sort of fuckery makes me really, really want to buy a Deluxe Reverb when I already have a Princeton Reverb and a Vibro Champ? There is no real musical purpose for this lust is there?

gwlee7 , I bought another 6176 even though I wasn't keen on the first one that I sold. So no, there really isn't..
Edit: However it came in handy down the road so I'm glad I got it.
