Sorry I’m measuring the 15V rail. The actual 24V measures correctly

No I’m seeing +26V and -9V

I’m measuring 24V at the power supply terminal block. I don’t have it hooked up to the console, wanted to check the voltages first. I could plug it up to an unloaded frame and see if that changes the voltages

It doesn't seem like there's a way to adjust the voltage rails so significantly, and it was suggested to me its likely the regulators themselves. The power supply is probably 50 years old at this point.

V610’s inbound, should be here Saturday. These are very interesting to me. I know almost nothing about them but see them here and there. Have you used them before? I’ve used the originals, and other Spectra gear old and new. I’m mostly interested in trying them as peak limiters as the first thing on a mix buss, like some mastering engineers has been doing, to see how that works before hitting a mix buss compressor. The idea of limiting program peaks before the compressor makes sense, and I work with a lot of banjos (in particular) that have very loud peaks I’m hoping it’ll make everything sound a bit smoother and be able to bring up RMS without it being overcompressed or distorted. But, we’ll see! I got one as payment for mixing a record, and Bill gave me a great price on a second one so I could have a matched pair

Is it possible the regulators are bad? Adjusting P2 doesn't do much, only brings the voltage up or down a volt.

I have a spare Auditronics power supply and the 15V rails are out of wack. +26V and -9V. Should be (roughly) 15V and -15V. What would cause them to be that out of wack?

The rare times I work on my own music and mix, I way over think it. I can mix another persons song in a couple hours and feel good about it and send it along for approval, but my own stuff I’m more tempted to lock it to a grid if it’s to a click, pull out the tuner, do 50 passes of a guitar lick even though the third one was fine...it’s good to hand it off to someone else to finish if you can allow yourself to do it

I have a rack with 4 902 de-esser. I’ll have to try the 411 trick.
The Aphex unit will work with the 900 rack. But, they are bit more power hungry so you can’t load up the DBX rack with Aphex units. From what I understand the signal path is identical in the 9651 as the 651 expressor. The rest of the units are probably the same.

Power! I still have a few modules to finish recapping before I fully load it up.

Funny enough the guy I bought it from found the original power supply, so hopefully I'll get to fire one of these consoles up soon. One just sold for $12,500 on Reverb which is definitely motivating me to finish the other one!
Molex connections are the devil.

I have always loved that 1178 sound, which audioscape box will give me that sound? I have also really liked using the API 3124 The 1178 does not use an input transformer and instead uses a 5532 op amp. A Revision G is the closest to a 1178 circuit wise. Mnats sells a PCB board where you can build a Rev F or Rev G 1176. The PCB Grinder MS76 might also give you a similar vibe as the 1178 as it’s op amp based

Traded a Royer 121 for a 1968 Epiphone Cortez. I had one in high school and never should have sold it, so excited I found one locally and someone was up for the trade.
Also got a Slingerland drum set that most likely I’m going to part out...it has a 14” floor tom which is where the money is but the rack and floor tom have some changed out hardware which kills the value. Great sounding drums though.

I use OldTimer in “Clear” mode all the time. Zero latency, great to just slap on when tracking and sometime it stays on through the mix.
I haven’t really gelled with their other plugins besides 2445, E27, and SpringBox.

I didn’t even bother listening or demoing, but since Plug-in Alliance keeps restarting their $20 promo code the last couple of days I got 4 of their stomp box plugins for free. If it’s free it’s for me

Ordered a pair of Beyerdynamic M160, and got notice that my pair of Spectra 1964 V610 will be shipping next week. I traded a good friend one for mixing his band’s record...and decided to order a second so I could have a matched pair. Both are great tools have fun! Excited for both. My 2021 goals are to only get gear I want to keep forever, and try to track down some classics because they are only getting more expensive. Depending on how work is, maybe throw down for a real M49/M249 or U67/M269. We’ll see!

A lot of times hand drums are tuned to the track, so you may want to consider something that sweeps so you can find the resonant notes and bring them up (or down)
Not sure if it’s still on sale but I believe the Tonelux EQ5P was $349 direct from them

So I have two splices, two leviathans, a Heritage 609, a dramastic obsidian, a Highland Dynamic BG1, a Highland Dynamics BG2, A Manley Elop + with upgraded tubes, two Audio-Scape Optos, and a Buzz DBC20. So I thought maybe I was overdoing it. If I had the space - I would have the Undertone Unfairchild. (I have the undertone pres and they are amazing). Maybe I should hook them all up together for some sort of Brian Eno sound. I need more eqs though. I only have the Thermionic Swift, the Maag rack unit, and a pair of Heritage 73eq jrs, which I love. So I am looking for a pair of 500 series graphics - perhaps Avedis or BAE. You might want to check out the CAPI LC25 and LC40. I dropped off my AKG BX10, Orban 111B, and original Electro-Harmonix Electric Mistress to a tech because I’ve given up on them, and sent a LA4 to Jim Williams. Got a RCA 77DX I traded for a Royer income, and I believe I found someone who wants to trade my other Royer for a 77D. Also looking to trade my Sound Workshop 242A for a Sony C38B. Wheeling and dealing! Currently considering an ADR Scamp Rack...there are some modules for those and it be cool to have. Definitely don’t “need” it though.
