I hate to say it because it comes from my experience as a recovering audiophile. When I had a home theater speaker setup with 5 B&W 805's plus 2 REL subs I had an expensive pair of B&W speaker stands that were hollow for filling with material. I tried them with no filler, then filled with sand, and then with these things I believe were called Power Points. They were little sharp metal triangles. The low end got obviously better and intelligibility improved greatly. I don't know if they're still made, it's been a long time, but hey were definitely well worth the money. If you use sand, it must be properly dried. Are you thinking of Atabites?

Oh, I also bought a pair of Audioquest Rocket 33 bi-wire speaker cables. Now, look, they were about 25% off the price of what a new pair cost so I thought what the f*ck I'll try it and hear what a $450 pair of speaker cables sounds like!

I grabbed an older Sennheiser MD431, like Massenburg uses on snare, to try out. I'm liking the M201 I bought over the Shure SM57 with TAB transformer but would still like a bit more "weight"
Tried to Ehrlund ERH-E on a tom and it might pick up too much bleed for my taste. Probably stick with 414's but going to mess around with position a bit more.

At home I have 4 pairs of hardware insert in Pro Tools that go to a pair of Spectra 1964 V610's, pair of AML EQP-1A, Alan Smart C1 (in Dual Mono), and Overstayer MAS. I use any combination of those. Hit the Specta's first to level off an peaks, then the Alan Smart, then the AML's, then the MAS. Occasionally I still used UAD Ampex. Also, every once in awhile I use the UAD Maag EQ4 or Dangerous BAX.

Bought a little Orange AD5. Maybe it'll be a good bedroom/practice amp. My wife said she's tired of playing unplugged electric guitar so she'll probably claim it haha.

King of the flip. I bow to you. I'm still waiting on a club date blue/silver duco floor tom! How random is it that I came across this WFL blue/silver duco snare today

I bought a broken Farfisa Compact for $100...I'm going to see if I can get sound out of it, if not I'll use it for parts. The previous owner threw away the lid because it was cracked. Damn. Also bought a used pair of Kimber PBJ RCA interconnects for a Spectra 1964 712 power amplifier that's coming my way. Sold my Bryston 4BST after hearing one at another studio. But, I don't own any RCA cables. King of the flip. I bow to you. I'm still waiting on a club date blue/silver duco floor tom! If somethings broken and $100 I'll buy it haha! Everything I WANT is at least $1000 and that's a bit harder to impulse buy. There are a lot of good vintage Ludwig Facebook group, definitely worth reaching out to see if someone has one.

Picked up an old Burgin McDaniel Komit (now sold by Radial). Always been interested in trying one, unique design.

I think in the past decade I’ve recorded an actual bass amp only a handful of times. But I’m not recording any fuzz/distorted/effected bass all that often

Alto Music is very generous and has price matched UK prices on Beyerdynamic gear. I got a great price on a pair of M160s and M201s.

Ehrlund EHR-E. Interested in trying it on toms. The price was right...I think! Seems like their microphones have terrible resale value. I also bought this turquoise Epiphone Casino with the thought I'd resell it because its actually pretty fun to play, but I ordered some Novak P90's because the stock pick ups are way too hot for my taste.

I believe my buddy Buster Allen is selling one. It’s probably not listed for sale yet. His website is Allen-Sound.com

I get the dildo component all the time. I also had a female artist ask me to swap out a R44 because it “looks like I’m signing into a giant nut sack”

Recently I've been taking all my guitars to get set up/minor repairs. Pick one up, drop one off. I had this Gibson SG Melody Maker which is a real piece of shit build wise but it's fun to play. But, the G string would go out of tune after about a minute of playing hard. Got a new bone nut and a set up it now I can enjoy it in tune!. Dropped it up after getting my Rickenbacker 450/12 set up, and dropped off my 72' Telecaster Deluxe reissue for a bone nut and set up. It makes a lovely "sitar" sound with an open string and while the pencil markings in the nut is a "quick" fix, ready to get it down right.
I need to make a visit to Nashville Used Music. Every time I go there I buy something like an electric mandolin, haha.

I bought a hammered Black Beauty because the price was too good to pass up. I'll probably end up trading / selling it because I already have one.

I usually find that using my AEA and GML preamps is usually “punchier” in that there are sharper transients (for lack of a better word). But, that can really eat up digital headroom with very strong peaks. Which, you’ll have to deal with some way if you want a “loud” / low RMS mix.
It’s a vicious cycle.

Picked up a sE X1D as a back up, hopefully this one sounds as good as the one I have! I’m finally getting my Scamp rack together and bought a S01 compressor off eBay. Also a pair of Beyerdynamic M201TG's...
Also got a bone nut and some work done to this cheap Gibson SG Melody Maker I got about 10 years ago. Build quality is terrible, nut was poorly cut, but man it is fun to play. Hopefully it stays in tune.
A revolving door of guitars going to get set up and work done.

I’d love another X1D as well, I use mine on outside kick. I’d hate it if it ever bit the dust

Waves Renaissance Maxx for like, $62 from Plugin Discounts. Suppose to come with 2 free plugins, but actually got 3. Picked MV2, API 2500, and Vitamin.
Sound Workshop 242C spring reverb, just because.
Califone Director portable turntable. A gift for a friend

Vanguard is nice for an "airy" option. That's really the only sub-$1000 tube microphone I'd recommend.

12VAC 1000mA is the power supply it needs, which is pretty common. You might even have something in your drawer for it.

I believe when PMI took over JoeMeek this was their answer for the SC2.2...should have a similar sound/function just smaller footprint. I would have bought it but now myself haha
