I have added a site wide music player to my website... it allows you to hear the first 50 secs off each song from the new album.
So, jump on over and have a free listen.

It has that reedy thing (not the right descriptor, but best I can do) that I remember from a good U47..... not much in proximity effect ... how far off the mic?
Killer sound... and more importantly your frame of mind every time you step up to that mic... is going to be one of confidence....
congratulations and may you have many years of faithful service....

Well the new album is done and dusted. Its called Guitar Strings Pen Paper and is available for $14 USD shipped anywhere in the world at www.peterknightmusician.comIts all me. I wrote all the tunes, played and sang everything , mixed mastered, artwork you name it....I even vacuumed and mopped the studio. I think its my best work ever... and I plan on enjoying the solid 90 minutes after completing and releasing an album.. before crippling self doubt about never being able to write anything ever again sets in. An update.... I am happy with how things are progressing... I am learning how to target well with my Facebook ads placement... I think that's the key. My strategy atm.... I do a live recording of a cover song, I mention people signing up to my mailing list , then after the cover song, I play a film clip from my last album. you can see them on my Facebook page if you want to have a look. www.facebook.com/PeterKnightMusicianI am extremely happy with the set up and the audio quality and video quality of the live performance. The idea is this is a weekly thing... with perhaps a few days after that, some sort of video that interacts with the followers... I haven't quite figured out what that will be as yet. Something semi personal would be nice, connecting with them on a personal level. I am enjoying the process.... and I am quite positive about the message and the process. Not worrying about the bottom line, has certainly been completely freeing. Cheers Wiz

Go get some training from a good singing teacher.
Simple things like using the correct vowel sounds eg singing NART instead of NIGHT, will have a big impact.. .not changing your mouth shape during notes... breathing.... seriously that stuff will improve your singing way more than skulling whisky and smoking butts...
Cheers

The thing that always seems crazy to me is that I want to upgrade from RX Standard to RX Advanced, but the price is nuts, as far as I’m concerned. It seems a little arbitrary what’s included in Standard vs. Advanced. I need the De-Wind, but I’m not going to upgrade just for that. May as well just go Crumplepop. EDIT: Maybe that's more my issue: the arbitrariness of what's included in one tier vs. another. I'm certainly all for software companies getting paid a fair price for their products. Yeah, I upgraded to ozone 9, cheaper by buying the tonal balance bundle , than upgrading from existing plugs... I have RX7 standard and its used every session for noise reduction. You are right the cost of standard to advanced is really too high. Cheers Wiz

Well so far I have seen extremely positive results from the Facebook marketing campaign.
The cost vs exposure has been far better than I expected. I think its good value atm as a promotional expenditure.
I also did a segment on radio here in OZ, on the ABC which is the national broadcaster.. .though I think the segment only extends a few hundred miles in circumference..... I prerecorded a live performance in my studio, and they played that, then the single "Guitar Strings Pen Paper". Was really positively received.
So that's great as well.
I think the thing for me to do , is shift my focus from being so heavily bottom lined ,... to one of connection and quality and artistic truth (not that I have ever not been who I am) and target the correct demographic... and gain joy from sharing what I do with those who enjoy it... if the money comes, it comes...
This process has been a sort of artistic watershed for me, and I am grateful for the advice and support I have recieved here.
Cheers

The biggest realistic payoff for me is... Helping to lift the Spirits, of other people. Taking their mind, off their Troubles. Especially now. Musical Fellowship, is another positive. Chris I was just telling this story..... I got an email a while back, after my Tiny Moments album came out.... from a fan. Saying how the album "Literally saved her life...." that it helped her through a suicidal period. She came to a show, and threw her arms around me..... it was a truly beautiful moment. Its not the first contact I have had like that.. I must keep that in mind... Art is there to improve others lives... not just MY bank balance... Cheers Wiz

My clients who make money are generally singer songwriters who play wine bars for audiences old enough to still buy CD’s, and sell they do. One with a regional base in infancy has blown through a couple thousand CD’s in that market. Go play a club/bar, no sales at all. I have been doing that for years.... problem is you need to be in a place, that has a changing audience... but it works well when it works. Cheers Wiz

I agree I need better marketing, which is why I am trying what I am. So, how are you guys targeting. Cheers Wiz From what I'm learning FB is great at targeting really specific audiences. The hard part is you need to do some market research to find what works, what doesn't, and who should and shouldn't be targeted. To do that you need a big sample size. Some strategies that could help: 1) Make two different ads, pitch them to the same demographic groups so you can A/B compare which ad gets more engagement. Video tends to get more clicks than still images. 2) Take those results and start narrowing down your audience. Age, sex, location, musical preferences etc. I would start with people in your own demographic, if you're into your music, people like you should be too. 3) Make it stupid simple for people to buy your product. Every time a customer has to click thru to another page or web address the chances of them continuing down the sales funnel drop exponentially. There needs to be a button they push, front and center, that allows them to purchase. 4) Try selling merch, signed posters, artwork, etc and use the music as a loss leader. 5) Pitch music to blogs and review sites that have lots of traffic. Some blogs have die hard fans that follow everything they review. These tend to be very genre specific IME. - It might take several hundred dollars just to learn who you should be marketing too but it's well worth it in the long run. Hope that helps. Thats really great thanks Wiz

I have to be who I am For sure.
I just can't ask people for tips. It does not sit right with me. I am struggling with the Patreon thing as well....
Perhaps its a cultural thing.
In any event, that is just not going to happen.
I agree I need better marketing, which is why I am trying what I am.
So, how are you guys targeting.
