I just received a stereo ribbon mic in blumlein configuration.
how would you use such a mic?
i bought it for an easy to setup stereo room ambient mic, but it's also pretty low noise, so I could definitely use it on acoustic gtrs/mandos/etc.

Yeah, using it on a stereo source while tracking would be the easiest configuration. I'm asking about using it as a bus comp on summed groups. I don't have any outboard summing capability, so the group stereo bus would have to be a send from my interface, patch thru the comp, and then returned to the interface. This is where my delay compensation would be required.
And then the thing that really sort of confuses me is using it on the master 2 bus. I guess I would just always master the return and the bounce in real time if I want my bounce to use the compressor.
Just trying to wrap my head around this workflow.

I scored a serpent audio sb4000 for a great price and want to use it both for various bus duties as well as master 2bus.
i will have connected to a bay so I can patch in as needed, but what i'm a bit confused about is how to use it for the 2bus.
if I want to use it while tracking, I'll need to compensate for delay, right? and if i want to use it as a 2bus comp, i'll have to monitor the stereo track it's writing to. just trying to wrap my head around some of the processes so i can prep for it's arrival

I've had good luck with DR Pro stands I've left mics up for days on them with no drooping.

I only have VMC Don't even use it that much, but this seems like a worthwhile deal for me. What plug ahould I choose? Think VCC is one that most peole seem to like.

Was looking at those as well. I want a solid Neve flavor for the least $. I've found a couple of used SCA chassis with n72 modules and it would run me about $400 a channel with 2-4 already built. I've also come across a few used modules for around $300 each.

Do any of you own/use Seventh Circle Audio n72?
i'm thinking about going that direction to compliment my CAPI pres.
8 of each should cover just about everything, right?

I know I'm not the first to think of this, but i hope someone develops it soon: VR is here. What I want is a virtual console where I can mix my stuff in the box. But the kicker is that it would be tied to a pair of gloves with haptic feedback so knobs, faders and switches can be felt. Gloves: www.neurodigital.es/

I've been reamping lately and would really like to know how to match my original instrument level signal(pre di) to the one I'm reamping(post reamp box) What's the best way to measure these levels?

hoping you guys can help me out. i'm reamping a clean gtr signal and what's hitting the amp is distorto. i'm using a reamp box (diy recording equipment) checking my gain stages and no matter what, somewhere the clean signal is getting smashed before it hits the amp.
my interface has output attenuation. Lowering this doesn't help, just makes it quieter. in protools, i set the output of the track to the output of the interface, then using balanced cable. Connect that to the reamp box, then unbalanced instrument cable to the amp.
the places i can change the gain are original track, output of interface, and amp itself. no matter what, my signal stills sucks. can't seem to figure it out
