Hey JK, any idea what clock you might be thinking about for your Apollo and D-Box setup? I would be interested to hear what you come up with.

Coming from someone that is a guitar player first and a recording fanatic second, I think both sound very good. Nice playing also.

I thought both sounded really good, but the true test was having my wife listen to both not knowing I was even switching them. She is a classically trained violin player so she has a pretty good ear. Her comment after I had switched back and forth a few times was, " I like that song and the I really like the singers voice, now what is the difference supposed to be?" Just goes to show the average consumer listening may not be able to tell any difference in things we all agonize over. If the song is good, recorded well and mixed well....the song is good.

Count me as someone anxiously standing by for the results and would not be opposed to adding a B2 for the print back of the summed mix.

I'm an admitted novice to using the 2Bus+ but according to the Dangerous website it is active summing. I am monitoring through the D-Box and then printing the summed signal from the 2Bus+ back into a stereo track in the DAW. I've also been experimenting inserting my stereo matched pair of Retro Powerstrips into the 2Bus+ ext insert path for some eq and color. Just wish my day job that helps me pay for all of this left me more time to work with it.

I'm using the Apollo 16 into a 2 Bus + and would agree with you JK. My wife even comments on the difference when switching between the sum and the straight DAW.

I downloaded Mixbus 32C late yesterday afternoon and spent a couple of bug free hours with it. Just added in a superior drummer backing track and then tracked a stereo resonator guitar part and vocal. The display looks great on my Raven Mti and I really like having the 12 stereo buses. I can see myself using this a lot in the future. I really like having the EQ and compressors built right into the mixer interface. Just wish Soundtoys Echoboy would work without the audio drop outs. I switched from ProTools to Studio One a while back and while I really like Studio One, it just seems easier and faster to get a good mix on mixbus with a lot fewer plugins.

I got my Soyuz 017 mic and had a chance to use it once before heading to a conference in Vegas for the week, but am already really loving it. Did a head to head comparison with my Pearlman TM-250 and they are both great keepers just slightly different flavors. On my voice the Soyuz was smoother and the TM-250 was a little edgier. I preferred the Soyuz on a female vocal because she needed the smoothness. I see how both are great weapons based on the type of vocal the song calls for.

I think I will have to add this one to the reverb arsenal. Really like the sounds I've heard.

Got the email for existing users and just watched the video. I already really like the current mix bus, but now this one looks really nice with 12 stereo busses and the new eq features.

Attachment Deleted I received these beauties last week and they are amazing so far on acoustic guitar. I have been so impressed with them I just ordered the Soyuz 017 and it is supposed to be delivered on Friday. It will be a fun weekend.

Thanks Martin. I think I would like to check out the 0-19. My primary LDC mic is a Perlman TM-250 so the 0-19 might be a nice complement to it. Thanks for your feedback. Please post something if you get the chance to try out the 0-19.

Martin, Thanks for posting the video with the Soyuz mics. It helped me decide to pull the trigger on a matched pair of Soyuz 011s. I received them Friday and so far have only used them on acoustic guitar, but I could not be happier. Prior to these I was using a matched pair of Miktek C5s which were pretty good, but for me the Soyuz 011s are in a whole other league. I don't have a KM84 to compare them to, but having used one in the past, I no longer feel like I am missing out on anything. The craftsmanship on these are outstanding and the recorded sound is pretty much exactly what you present to them. They almost make me feel like I am cheating. The best way I can explain them is they have the articulation of a SDC with the richness of a LDC. The only bad thing about them, is now I want to check out the 017 and 019.

Thank for the feedback on the Soyuz 011 MJB. I am in the market for a stereo pair of SDCs primarily for recording acoustic guitar, resonator, mandolin, etc. and those are on my short list. I'd love to find a really clean pair of KM84s, but seems like all the ones I can find are beat to hell.

Kind of went crazy over the past few weeks and upgraded my Apollo 8 Quad to the Apollo 16, Dangerous D-Box, Dangerous 2 Bus+, and a stereo pair of Retro Powerstrips. Now I just need to find more hours in the day to use all of it.

I'm a believer. Just upgraded my Apollo 8 Quad I bought in November to a new Apollo 16 and while I was at, it after reading John's first post a while back on his experience with the D-Box, added the D-Box and the 2 Bus+. Even my wife asked what I did different on a mix I've been working on over the past couple of weeks because the difference was so noticeable. Now just waiting for the Fedex truck to show up today with my matched stereo pair of Retro Powerstrips so I can try those in the switchable analog inserts in the 2 bus+. Haven't tried linking the Apollo 8 and 16 for 24 track summing since I rarely have that many tracks, so will probably end up selling the 8, but nice to know the capability is there for linking both the Apollos and the D-Box and 2 Bus+. Since I don't do this for my living and don't get to spend as much time as I like recording, I was also very pleased in how easy and intuitive is was to get everything set up and routed so I could be mixing and taking advantage of all the features very quickly. Damn! mikec won the lottery! Did you find what I found? Improved punch and separation? Yea, blew the tax refund and then some. I do find the punch and separation noticeably improved. Since I don't get to mix full time my skills are not where I would like them to be so the D-Box and 2 Bus+ are kind of like training wheels for me and make my mixes better with less plugins. The Harmonics, Paralimit, and X-former features on the 2 Bus+ are also very cool to work with.

Back to the topic of the Southern Soul EZX. I bought it yesterday based on this thread (I need to stop coming here) and I think it is one of Toontrack's best. Now I just need to stop reading about the Chandler RS124 before I buy one or two of those.

Picked up a Martin Custom Shop OM cutaway acoustic with birdseye maple back & sides and englemann spruce top and maple neck. Sounds great live and records great also.

I am right there with you. I thought I should be giving the Martin SPs a try, since after all, I am putting them on Martins. Nevertheless, I will be going back to Elixirs.

Just looked at the ATR-102, LA2A, and EMT-140 and I think those would meet my needs very well.

Thanks for the feedback. I am primarily a singer/guitarist/songwriter on my own stuff, but I do a good amount of recording and producing for other singer/songwriters for demos. Nevertheless, everything I do in pretty much in the same genres which is country rock, folk, classic rock, blues.
