It's really a bummer. Tim seemed like a cool dude with strong values and he was passionate about his work. I like supporting companies like that. I was really rooting for his company. I supported Tim by buying this from his first batch when he was painting them on his back porch. What took him under was when he offered a tube setting and didn't charge previous owners for the upgrade. It involved changing the case and adding the tube and parts, basically getting a new unit and leaving him with a pile of old cases. Also too many products with too many options. This is sad news. I have one (passive monitor controller) and love it Tim seemed like a good guy.

westom you clearly have never worked in the electrical industry, There are 2 professionals posting here keymod and myself (I have 3 trades Electronics, Electrical. and Telecommunications) I have been on the ground with multi million dollar systems and no expense spared lightening protection systems. There is no such thing as a "whole house' 100% proof system NONE. I have seen lightening protection systems blown across the room along with the rest of the equipment whole blocks where everything connected to the communications cable's where fried. How is your whole of house protector going to stop a surge if it comes thu your internet connection? I am not going argue with you anymore as you clearly don't know what you are posting about.

The power utility company here in South FLorida (FPL) is offering a surge protection program for $10./month. Is this worth it? (A device installed under the meter, etc.) Since a 'whole house' protector can be purchases for $60 or $100 (to have protection for decades), then is it better to spend $10 every month? Well some have landlords who hate change. Then a utility installed protector is a better option. BTW, unplugging, power off, or open circuit breakers obvious are an ineffective and bogus solution. Since it requires one to know a stray car, lineman, tree rodent, or utility switching will occur long before the anomaly happens. Even power off or open circuit breakers leave appliances connected to a surge. This technique means one must never take showers, never leave the house, never sleep, and never have a job. Rediculuos when $1 per protected appliance makes all that and an ineffective solution unnecessary. Just no. You clearly don't know what you are posting about. You can build a lighting proof structure but it would have no conductors in or out. A shipping container with an internal generator and optic fiber connections would be quite happy while being hit with lightning. However if you bring in any external wiring (power or comms) and lightning strikes near by gear will get fried the 1.21 gigawatts has to go somewhere and if you think grounding your gear will help what do you think happens to the ground voltage when it gets hit??? You are more likely to be struck by lightening than win the lottery.. However the risk is still small. Your $100 surge protector is equivalent to putting up an umbrella during a meteorite strike.

Don't waste money on lighting protection simply unplug your gear if a storm is about simple and cheap.. And for me, completely unpractical. If it fries, it fries, but I'm going to throw whatever I can at it to protect it - I can't stop working. I'd have to unplug my stuff all summer and half the winter to be completely "safe". Cause we can get a close strike out of the blue, almost with sunny skies. Weather can completely change 3-4X's a day. You never know when it's going to hit. In a professional situation you don't have a choice I agree. Lightning protection will help on the edges but if you get a half decent strike all bets are off and in your situation do your best and get on with your work no point worrying about what you cannot prevent. For us amateurs unplug and wait till the storm passes

I am an electrician and telephone/data/security tech The only way to protect your equipment from lighting strikes is to unplug it no if's or butt's. I could tell lots of horror stories from the tropic's of having to fix multi million dollar pieces of equipment where the lighting protections only real use was to show where the current went. Don't waste money on lighting protection simply unplug your gear if a storm is about simple and cheap..

Here's my get out of jail card. I don't have a lot of experience with higher end monitors.. Having said that I love them my room is well treated but these monitor's have transformed my mixing, Reverb tails, Bass ( I can hear it now), Vocal compression setting , sound scape . Full range monitoring is a game changer for me and mixing on the events translates very well to other systems. My first new mix on these monitor's sent to my mate his response "Everything is in the right place, what did you do?" Event 2030 Still loving these? I ordered a pair, hoping they sound killer. Yes I still love them have not even had a thought about new monitors. Let us know what you think..

This is a product of simply not enough money to pay the top guy's what they should be payed Bob Katz should have plenty of money to splash around for an awesome space a couple of employees cleaning making coffee answering the phone etc trying to learn as much as they can from him. Fact is even for the top guy's like this money is tight and shoe string is the game. Even so a am sure everyone would want Bob's mastering over mine even if I had a 10million dollar mastering studio skill and talent trump most things but it would be nice if he had both...

It's probably in sync. The problem with that is a properly timed beginning of a note rarely falls on a grid. Gridded and cutesy, a lousy contrived combo, people cutting in a room together feeding off of one another is thee shit! U know, music! 8) Now your talking crazy talk

@smallbutfine and formatcyes - I missed your responses the first time through, thanks for the info! Are either of you using hardware at mix down with Mixbus? I was having issues with delay compensation using hardware. I'd ping the send/return and it would work but if I had it in cycle playback it would get delayed as soon as it started the passage over again. A bit quirky but I really like it anyway so I'll have to download the update, I'm a bit behind the eight ball. Maybe some of the quirkiness will go away. Also, since you only get 4 busses, how are you setting them up. I know you can create a stereo aux but I like using the busses. I was thinking 1 - vocals (including backing) 2 - drums and bass 3 - guitars/keys 4 - either fx or other instruments that are in the arrangement. You have to manually adjust the delay compensation Its easy to do as you can keep the adjustment window open while you tweek it. Go window then audio/midi setup. Loop back and adjust loop again untill its perfect. I don't use external hardware I just don't want any difference when tracking. You get 8 busses while in mixer window left hand side scroll down and tick 5 buss to 8 I use my busses for reverbs and effects only but I am not a pro so probably doing the opposite is best

You would not have won your mix would have been good. whaa? That mix attacked my ears I want some dynamics is that to much to ask??? whaa?were you a judge? or am I not quite understanding what/which you're talking about, care to clarify both statements? even though my mix wasn't even close to done, it burned everyone of those in the top ten... easily, but i guess i'm biased! hehe Sorry the no dynamics was a reference to the winning mix not your mix. I really liked your mix but it had life and dynamics so there is noway you would have won. Sorry about the last post I should have been a bit clearer

Hi Guy's What's the easiest way to check that the midi lines up with the audio? For example a drum sample lined up on the first beat how do I test that it is playing at the same time as an audio track?
