Any Great Britain exclusive trading war has to wait until March 29 2019, 11pm British Time. Until then the trade war with the EU applies.

Ok, your friend Google knows it is not a switching PSU. Cool. Now ask him if the unique R-core power transformer has dual primaries, or is just a different model for 120V or 240V

Sometimes the voltage selector switch is inside the unit, sometimes the PSU transformer can be wired for 115V or 230V, and a switching PSU doesn't need a selector. Ask Dizengoff if it can be done.

Current draw isn't all. Since at the beginning there have been a few modules causing problems in some Racks with weak PSUs the marketing hype is now "I do have more power than you for each slot". In fact most modules need far below 130mA each rail.
Most cheap and weak PSUs don't have current problems anymore, but I (or my customers) observed - a minimum load to start up working - problems with inrush current - problems with unequal loads - switching noise - grounding problems - the real fun starts with interacting stacked SMPS (module SMPS AND Rack SMPS)

I do manage some 80+ iLoks at work, no issues. Personally I would prefer to have only iLok protected software, like we had the past few years ...

I guess all locations without a country are in the US. Like all orders I get with the question "how much is shipping to CA4125" etc. Like I would say to Jeff "how much is shipping to 10318". Would he, or you, know how to calculate this?
But I understand, must be hard to state out "I live in the US" ;-)
Rant over ...

Why aren't we stopping preamps? It is the (nearly) only thing a computer can't do. In a few years you will only have digital microphones. But what to do with the legacy Microphones?
Digital gain doesn't add the mojo (yet). And the good old Microphones can't be connected to any digital input.

I could offer some (original) Neumann W475.
I would like to clone them into API or 51X format. Not well known, no reputation. No chance. However, best what you can get.
One no go for a 500 clone is the 4 x 12 step switch.

the correct mail would be to kitorder [at] 51xAudio [.] com
Yes, your location is important. Jeff supplies north and south america, I do EU and Cemal does UK and rest of the world. So, sweden will be supplied by me, and (at the moment) I do have racks and floor box PSU kits in stock.

Poor Topsy, yes. But we are neither speaking of 6600 Volts AC nor DC ;-) You can do it without any harm.

The best preamps under $500 are for sure my Neumann clones! IF you already HAVE a GDIY511 Rack. Now, if you can wait until USD500 is below EUR400 again ...

Nothing wrong Pieter. I do not advertise the "old" PSU PCBs anymore, however, we do still have some if needed.

See - it's the "just be careful, you could die" part that worries me a skoche... You can always die dealing with mains voltages. However, you are in the US an have 115V, you only die half compared to us EU or australian people It is a good sign if it worries you. If you decide to DIY (or even have a look and open a commercial "mains voltage" product), you will be careful! Always stay safe!!!

I believe Volkers psu is not available anymore, but 'guess' Jeff psu will preform great. I still do sell PSU PCBs, and the PSU TRX is the same like in Jeffs PSU - but I don't sell part Kits for this anymore. Jeffs PSU is basically the same, and to keep my stock clean and simple: for full part kits I only have Jeffs wonderful Floor-Box PSUs in stock.

Great idea! The closest I've come to soldering is spreading mayonnaise on a piece of white bread, but maybe you guys could teach me something! We will do. First thing is: always make sure to touch the soldering iron on the correct side. However, you learn this one very fast
